Thailand declares state of emergency - suspends civil liberties
The emergency decree orders the police to restore order and gives the military the right to help to "restore order, allow the suspension of civil liberties, ban public gatherings of more than five people and bar the media from reporting news that causes panic."

Fucking Bush and his fascist police state.

Going there for a month in end of december.... hope all this mess will be solved!

Haha this happens like once a year. I remember when Thaksin got removed there was tanks driving around outside my condo building.
Also had a military jeeps driving around with speakers telling us to stay inside and so on.. I stayed inside for 2 days then I snuck out. Seeing Bangkok with no traffic or people on the roads was amazing. |
A lot of good it's done. The protesters are still at the airports. The last state of emergency here did absolutely nothing and this one will do the same. A coup will happen within a day or two here from what I hear.

Yeah the only question now is what the military will do. Based on recent history they will not attack the people to protect Shinawatra's power.
So it appears as if the military doesn't launch a coup against his brother in law ASAP, the protesters will crash will the military police. Hopefully the pigs get their asses handed to them. :2 cents: |

Many of the PAD are being paid to be there. These dumb asses are fighting and protesting for no other reason than they are getting paid for it. That's fucked up. I don't know which side is worse. Just don't bother the whores or the ladyboys. That's all I ask. |
I am in Phnom Penh at the moment and am sure are glad I dont have to deal with going thru Bangkok to go back to the states next week. Got my shiny new visa from the Chinese embassy this morning here and will instead fly thru Beijing. All those guys stuck in Thailand with flights home thru Bangkok airport must be scrambling right now, really sucks.
|
wow, that's pretty fucked
|
I'm putting my money on a Coup before the end of December.

Spoke to my bro in Pattaya today and he thinks it will be 2 for the price of one over the Christmas period. Things are not looking good for the bar trade this high season. |
I hate to say this but:
1. I actually do hope they take military action to reclaim those airports so I can go visit my family, I dont know if they are supporting a good cause or bad, but I just want to get home, my family is waiting to see me :helpme 2. I'm actually a bit happy about this, it will lessen tourism a bit, and weaken the baht a bit too :) |
