Affliate Reps/Managers why do you do this ?
I dont understand why you send emails wanting affliates to sign up then use a gmail address or hotmail account as a reply address. When I see this I always wonder if you are actually from the program you are trying to promote. Just seems kinda weird that you dont have an email address with the sponsor you are employed with, When I get emails like this I dont reply back and I wonder how many other webmasters dont reply back either :(

It is easy to forget to click the damn drop down menu in Gmail to select which email address you wish for them to see. Yes my affiliate mail and even the mail I get for sluttydollars whom I work with gets forwarded to my gmail address. I do have the @program.com addresses but it is fucking pointless really and multi email logins would just lead to slower response times and possibly forgetting to grab given emails.
The actual email address really should mean nothing though, does it really provide anything at all beyond some ancient issues with free email addresses? Reality is anyone can get a domain, attach an email, etc. |

I use gmail and only gmail. I've had so many email addresses in the past ten years that it's not funny. From now on everything goes through gmail.
I love the google line of products. I use google docs, and their calendar to track all of my blog updates and all kinds of stuff. Everything in one place. |
One answer could be they use this free service for their spam filter. Their company may not allowed them to have a pop 3 outside the network for security reasons. Not saying I would do it, just giving you some answers. =]

Well, partly because if you send from GMAIL to someone else you have a great chance of the Affiliate actually getting the email. Where as if it's like mike@eroticdollars then you might get spam flagged and the affiliate never sees your email.
Why does it matter, anyone can pay $7 and do email forwarding on a domain. That doesn't make them legit. If you can't see their name on the website then I'd icq someone at the company. |
