To you idiots who bash hunting.

Unless you are vegans, you're complete hypocrites. And you are even worse of a person than a hunter.

The food you purchase at the store. Milk, Eggs, Meat, Chicken, etc etc. Even worse, if any of you have ever eaten any fast food. Or the leather on your shoes, jackets, belt??

It's all "Farmed Animals" - acres upon acres of these animals breed and kept under HORRIBLE living conditions until they're slaughtered and mass produced into meat piles for your pleasure.

So. Unless you're a vegan - STFU :321GFY

ive gutted deers, skinned rabbits before. shot all types of pheasant, squirrels, wild boar, you name it.... ive had blood all over me and grew up hunting my whole life...

its what made me turn veg lol

the last time i did it, we made 150lbs of deer sausage., that was it for me,.. too much blood and flesh

Spunky 12-02-2008 08:55 PM

I'm a animal lover and also a hypocrite.I hate seeing animals killed but I eat lots of meat and wear exotic skins on my feet.I can understand the need to hunt due to over population.what I can't understand is hunters that need to use bait in order to shoot them point blank or whatever.that's not really hunting

potter 12-02-2008 08:55 PM

Yeah, It's pretty disgusting. Supposedly a trip to any animal farm / slaughter house can easily turn someone veg.

Sands 12-02-2008 08:57 PM

What did those helpless deer and cows ever do to you, man? Huh? Do you feel like a tough guy with your high-powered rifle, shooting defenseless animals? Maybe you should hunt something that can fight back, like a dragon, or that big rock monster from Neverending story. :2 cents:

pocketkangaroo 12-02-2008 08:58 PM

I don't have a problem with hunting for food or clothing. My issue is hunting for fun that does nothing with the animals. I also find it pathetic to see a middle aged man hiding in a tree with deer urine on him, but to each his own.

And breeding an animal into horrid living conditions. Keeping it in a cage so small it's legs break because they've never built the muscle to sustain their own weight. They throwing them into a grinder to become nuggets.

That's better?

JamesK 12-02-2008 08:59 PM

Hunting is okay with me if you're going to at least eat it :)

Do you know anyone who hunts deer and doesn't use the meat / hide? I doubt it.

mynameisjim 12-02-2008 09:15 PM

I'm a long time vegetarian and don't wear anything leather so I guess that gives me the right to complain.

I'm personally against hunting but I don't preach to anybody.

The one thing I do ask is that if you hunt, you learn to shoot and learn to kill an animal clean and instantly. No creature should have to spend its last moments running scared from a bunch of drunken rednecks carrying guns.

I wonder why people enjoy deer hunting though and wonder what thrill it gives them. Deer are the most skittish, frightened animals you will ever come across. Killing them makes you look like a pussy. If someone went into the wilds of Africa with a knife or a bolt action rifle and came home with an animal, I would at lest respect them.

But hey, everyone needs to live their lives how they see fit.

Maybe to make up for feeling inadequate in the world. Maybe it gives people a self-esteem boost or something to have power over something. Who knows?

Cyandin 12-02-2008 09:29 PM

Look, this is the way I see it.

1. To hunt is ok, but don't shoot it if you're not going to eat it.

2. Don't give me any of that shit about killing. We've been eating animals since the dawn of our species.

3. Don't shoot unless you know you've got a good shot, and NO GUT SHOTS.

4. If you oppose hunting, but eat meat, you're a weak hypocrite. Buying store meat finances cruelty that would make most hunters cry, literally. Most hunters I know have a deep respect and admiration for animals, including their quarry - much more than the sheeple eating McDonalds.

I respect other peoples opinions, but some of the shit I hear people spouting seems to be of the caliber of intelligence you find among Christian conservatives.

How is this even such a debate-worthy topic?

I think hunting with guns is lame. Try hunting with a knife only, that's where the real men are at. It's pretty difficult to jump out of a tree and slice a deer open at the same time, but let me tell you it sure is fun trying.

I love the people who say it's too easy. Obviously never gone hunting. How does that rank in the easiness department compared to going down to the grocers and picking up a t-bone while turning the blind eye and ignoring everything lead up to that juicy steak? Do you "vegans" here even have a garden? Do you genuinely have any understanding of what actually needs to go down to provide for yourself?

LOL at all the fagets who think people hunt to make up for feelings of inadequacy. You seriously have no clue what you're talking about.

To anyone who's weak-assed argument is "do you feel like a real man killing a defenseless animal? does it make you feel strong big macho guy??" Let me ask you this. What understanding do you even have of hunting, or for that matter the wilderness, or even wildlife in general? My guess is next to fucking none. So what makes you feel so compelled to impart your oh so qualified psychiatric wisdom upon us? Does it make you feel or intelligent or enlightened to run your mouth about things you know nothing about? Does it make you feel like a man to pass judgment about things you nothing about while completing ignoring the reality of the situation?

Who's putting their inadequacy on display again?

If you ask me your self-righteous bullshit spells out far more about the weakness of the will than someone partaking in a age old tradition that is in our god damn blood. Newsflash, going out and providing for yourself the most basic of human needs with your own hands is a satisfying experience.

I have a hard time believing that any one of you holds the capability to survive for yourself outside of your closed off little world. You don't understand something and it scares you, and so you hate it. That's simple human nature, to fear what you do not understand. Don't worry I understand. You try to come across as being so liberated and open-minded, yet you are some of the most ignorant narrow-visioned cunts around. You are the type of people who go off on a family hike and wind up starved to death in the back country because you don't have even the most basic understanding of what it takes to go out into nature.

If you want to live a vegan lifestyle, by all means do so, but don't get preachy in and in my face with your bullshit. Which in case you haven't researched yet, is entirely bullshit. I'm sure I could pick through your nice home in the suburban sprawl and find any number of products created using animal components, lumber in your home clearcut from lush mountainsides, a cupboard full of chemicals and pollutants, metals are minerals cored from the earth or strip mined in gigantic pits, you probably have a nice car, and enjoy driving it on paved highways. You every day partake in activity which is far more detrimental to the environment than hunting has ever been or ever will be...

d-null 12-03-2008 12:56 AM

^^

I've taken hunter training and I've killed. I've shot 30-ot-6 rifles, 10 guage shotguns with enough kick to knock you over if you don't know what you're doing, semi autos, etc... I would not die in the back country.

You are generalizing.

I believe that hunting that is not necessary for survival is fucked up, when I was younger I was just following in "tradition" without really thinking about it, as my father was as well, although his father did it for survival and so on before that. Now that I have gotten older and thought about it more, I don't like the mentality of people that enjoy hunting as a sport. As far as meat in stores, I also believe that we need to do as much as we can to make the process as humane as possible.

And to the other post, hunting with a knife only would be even more of a fuck up and cause more suffering than necessary, similar to what bow and arrow hunting for sport does. Fuck that.

mynameisjim 12-03-2008 01:16 AM

For me as a vegetarian it came down to an equation. When I was younger I enjoyed eating meat, but then I started to think about the suffering of the animal. Take a hamburger or steak you eat for instance. That came from a cow who spent his entire life in a feed lot, an enclosed, filthy, dirt field where literally millions of cows stand shoulder to shoulder, unable to move. They are pumped with drugs so they don't get sick and die. It's a terrible life. I started wondering if those 5 or 10 minutes of enjoyment I get eating a hamburger were worth that cow spending his entire life in such horrible conditions. The answer for me was no. The intense suffering of all those animals was something I did not want to be a part of.

So it's not so much about eating meat as it is about the condition the animals you eat are living in. If everyone hunted their own meat and ate it, I would actually have no problem with that because that means the animal got to live it's normal life until an organism higher up the food chain killed it and ate it. That's life, that's how nature works and I have no problem with that. But these feedlots and chicken/pig farms with millions of animals are nowhere near natural.

So actually, if the only meat you eat comes from hunted animals, I consider you to be very similar to a vegetarian from an ethical standpoint, as odd as that may sound.

Of course, humans have to ability to step outside of the natural food chain and that ability skews the ethics a little bit, but that opens up a whole new philosophical debate. So I'll just stick with what I typed above :)

d-null 12-03-2008 01:24 AM

farming for meat can be done humanely and ethically :2 cents:

There's a difference between hunting for sport and hunting for survival. Hunting for sport is so retarded, it's gay.

DamianJ 12-03-2008 05:14 AM

Eating a cow is cool with me.

Pretending you are some kind of 'sportsman' by dressing up in weird clothes, going into the woods with a dozen buddies, necking a 12 pack, then shooting deer and calling that a sport is amusing to me.

James124 12-03-2008 05:20 AM

Forget the concrete, the skyscrapers, and the emo's. It's still a jungle. As human beings its our mission to dominate and exploit all other species(except dogs) for food, clothes whatever. We must also harvest this planet down to the very last resource. Then the strong individuals will move on to the next planet, leaving the week to perish.

Well yeah, but you'd try and shoot him, and the bullet would presumably bounce off him because he's a rock. Then you'd be like, "oh shit, I need a bigger gun", and he'd be like "fuck you I'm made of rock!"

Gutting a deer is pretty nasty. Especially if you start ripping stuff out and you see a bunch of round terds come pouring out. Nothing worse than discovering someone made a gut shot. The smell is not something you want to associate with sitting down to a nice steak dinner.

Kinda turns you off of eating it. Although the stuff is tasty as hell and a lot leaner than beef.

Or because it's one of the few animals out there left you can hunt that provides a decent amount of good-tasting meat. It's not like there are wild cows out there we can go after.

pornguy 12-03-2008 06:33 AM

I am NOT against HUNTING... But pouring deer piss on the gorund and putting Molases out is NOT hunting... Thats traping.

Get on the ground, follow the tracks and then kill the thing with a Bow or knife. Thats Hunting.

Shooting something from 1/4 of a mile away is NOT.

YOU=RETARD.

Listen any idiot that needs to kill animals for SPORT is a pussy and borderline psycho. FACT. And don't bring up "I eat the meat". You can go to the store and get meat. Sorry but sitting in a tree stand covered in deer piss and putting a salt block in the middle of an open field waiting for deer to come and then using a high powered or semi-automatic rifle with a scope to kill said deer is NOT a sport. Now go out into the woods naked( you can wear shoes and cover your winnie ) and kill one with your bare hands THEN I will be impressed.

Hunting is like the Boston Celtics taking on a Jr high school team and then calling that game "competitive".

You like hunting? Come after me, a HUMAN. See how far you get. Oh wait humans have intelligence and don't fall for salt blocks and their own urine scent. It might be harder to kill something that actually has equal footing as you.
