Where do people go to get these "free toys" and food?
My father in law lost his business (foreclosed) and is about to have the same happen to his home. His kids are pretty deprived of basic things a lot of people enjoy - and this is mainly because he is a dipshit.
My wife and I have done all we can financially to help the kids at least have half a crap christmas instead of a full one - but here's my question: How do kids take advantage of the stuff from drives like the webmaster toy run, food bank etc? It breaks my heart that these kids are losing out on a lot of luxuries in life (kid got pulled from baseball cause his glove broke and they couldn't buy him another one and wouldn't tell family so we could get him one because they were embarrassed because they are such idiots) Where can I direct the parents to get things from? Thanks! |

We Marines have been doing it for years, simple signup and we'll take care of the rest. Drop me a zip code and I'll tell you exactly who to talk to. http://www.ruggedelegantliving.com/a...ots.Poster.jpg |
Toys for tots is the real deal you should hit up Matt^
Or contact toys for tots in your area directly. |
I should mention my Father in law is an ex-Marine. Great character and solid person, but somehow can't provide for his family these days. :[
Thanks Matt. Zip is 54614 |

Your local department of social services can also direct you to any local charities and organizations like Angel Tree. |
Semper Fi to all the Marines that run toys for tots
One of my favorite memories of being in the Marines |
Sorry to hear about that
|
Your fire department likely has something going on.

I am so sorry to hear about your father in law and his family. They could try the Salvation Army. They help financially and with Christmas gifts. Food banks and churches also offer a lot of services. I think for help from a food bank you call them and they will give you the times you can come by. There are a lot of good suggestions already posted on here. I hope things work out for them. |
I'm willing to bet at least three other kids on that baseball team had extra gloves they could have given him...
|
Look for local food banks. They would also have all the info for toys for the kids.
here is a start http://feedingamerica.org/foodbank-r...aspx?zip=54614 |
Check out the Salvation Army, they are always helping families out. I volunteered to help out for Thanksgiving dinner and there were so many people looking for help. I know they also hand out toys as well.

You should contact your local churches (doesnt matter whether you belong or not), municipal building, fire and police stations. Someone should be able to help you out.

PS Michele is right too, the local Fire House and Church should have a list of other places as well, Fire Station is the best start |
