Any time I research a company/domain name that I suspect doing something not quite right I get to that WHOIS.......

They are not a registrar Oystein, they are part of godaddy I believe, privacy side. might be wrong on the godaddy bit.

I think that the original intent of the service is good... Joe Blow wants a website about fishing lures and doesn't want the world knowing his name and address, a little privacy with his freedom of expression. It simply gets abused by less than savory individuals. It's a loop hole.

Network Solutions. Hands down. Domain name front running? Did you forget? And I know for a fact in the mid 1990s they had people working for them accepting bribes to hold all 2 and 3 character domain names hostage cost-free to be sold to the highest bidder.

Agree, and it is a shame. Privacy is good in some instances, but when certain billing companies/customer service companies use it to hide who they really are, well then I think it is going above what is accepted.

Transparency is key and our industry should have that to prove that we are not out to fuck customers, just to show fucky things on screen for customers pleasure.
