I know not all, but you see the point. How many 100s of thousands of adults bought their homes on the high end on mortgages they really could not afford?

And how many 100's of thousands of adults didn't buy their homes on high end mortgages that they couldn't afford? The answer is most of them and those people are now paying for the idiocy of a few. There are 10's of millions who saved, put a down payment on a house, have a fixed rate mortgage and pay their bills on time. The other day the news said that about 99% of people are still paying their mortgages and credit card bills and everything else on time. Here is a nice little story about that.
http://www.usatoday.com/money/econom...gs-march_N.htm
Nationwide 1 out of every 538 houses is in foreclosure. That means that about that about .2 percent are not. I'm not a mathematician, but I don't think .2 percent makes up all Americans. Those that are in foreclosure are hurting a lot of people and causing troubles, but they are not the only problem. What about the smart and educated people who went to college and got good jobs and made a lot of money then got greedy selling credit swaps that were based on loans made on houses that they knew would foreclosed on? These "educated" and "smart" people are just as much, if not more to blame. If they hadn't done that, the houses would have been foreclosed on and the banks giving out the mortgages would have gone under and someone else would have bought them. Instead, the fruit from the poison apple has caused everyone troubles.
But that is all off the point. Again, I restate my point. Because one person spoils their kid does not make all Americans dumb. Because 1 person in every 538 did something stupid and bought a house they couldn't afford does not make every American dumb.
And here is the thing. Most people will read that article and think that woman is stupid and that spoiling a kid like that is bad. Anyone who is going to feel "guilty" about not giving their kid everything they ask for, was going to feel that way whether they read that article or not.
