Crystal Meth for Children. FUCK!

I just got this email from a friend, and since there are many of us here who are parents, I thought I'd share it. I don't know how long this has been going on, but moms and dads here need to know!

There is a type of crystal meth going around that looks like strawberry pop rocks (the candy that sizzles and 'pops' in your mouth). It also smells like strawberry and it is being handed out to kids in school yards. They are calling it strawberry meth or strawberry quick.

Kids are ingesting this thinking that it is candy and being rushed off to the hospital in dire condition. It also comes in chocolate, peanut butter, cola, cherry, grape and orange.

Please instruct your children not to accept candy from strangers and even not to accept candy that looks like this from a friend (who may have been given it and believed it is candy) and to take any that they may have to a teacher, principal, etc. immediately.

Have you ever met a dope dealer? I don't think Fox news has either... dope dealers don't hand dope to kids because kids don't have money... I think they needed a filler story.

Move on folks, nothing to see here...

From that same Snopes article:

One DEA agent reported a red methamphetamine that had been marketed as a powdered form of an energy drink. Says DEA spokesman Steve Robertson, "Drug traffickers are trying to lure in new customers, no matter what their age, by making the meth seem less dangerous." The colored meth has been described as resembling rock candy or Pop Rocks (a kid-favored confection that fizzles in the mouth), and because it looks like candy, officials fear it may fool children and teens into mistakenly perceiving it as candy (or perceiving it as a drug far less dangerous and addictive than it actually is).

However, while colored versions of methamphetamine that resemble candy are certainly available, the claim that the drug is actually being sold in flavored versions is a subject of some dispute.

Hmmm... it looks like it's not that much of a hoax. Trust me, I really wish there was no true to this at all, because I'm the mom of a 3 year old.

yeah old urban legends... not saying kids are never exposed to drugs, but the logic is found in the part about people selling drugs for profit, therefore giving them away to kids sort of goes against that...

they've been talking about drugs aimed at kids forever, but its adults that actually purchase them, for the most part anyhow.... :1orglaugh

Your DramaFu is weak this morning... if you read the article you'd see that the part that is false is dealers selling directly to kids, not the part that it actually exists. :upsidedow

It has existed for a long time legally in the form of concerta, ritalin and other ADD / ADHD medications.

Only "pornographers" give away product as a business model.

you ever hear of getting free samples at the grocery store trying to build a brand? this is no different. I saw this shit in NYC when crack first came out. 10 year olds giving some to their friends to try and getting it from the local dealers.

and who says kids dont have money? My gf kids both have over 300.00 in their piggy banks

kids have and can get money these days.

:thumbsup
it sounds like some pta mom is prob looking for attention.

Meth is often a pink/red hue because of adulterants in it from whatever pills they used to make it.

Everyone knows dealers don't give it away, and no there isn't some savvy drug dealer trying to hook kids.

It's not like theres a shortage of meth users. Drug dealers have no trouble getting rid of their drugs. They don't really need to go around trying to turn people into addicts.

gooddomains 12-08-2008 11:43 AM

I want some candy ;-)

Karupted Charles 12-08-2008 11:47 AM

I thought this was going to be about cookie crisp!

czarina 12-08-2008 11:58 AM

I was about 7 years old when I first heard of "candy" being given to kids in public schools in big cities. I wasn't either in a public school nor a big city, so I never lived it myself, therefore I can't tell you if it was just an urban legend or not. But I guarantee you that drug dealers have no scruples to giving drugs to kids. So it wouldn't surprise me if this is going on right now. Much worse things have happened in this screwed up world.

Why give something you can sell for $100... to a kid who makes $7.50/week cleaning his bedroom?

Urban Legend.

Kids who do these drugs find an adult somewhere in their life who is buying it.. and getting something "from them" ... whether it be sex, companionship, or just a rush of knowing you're getting a kid high. It's sad. But every "kid" starting drugs starts with some kind of adult in their life exploiting them..

A drug deal isn't just going to give away his profit to someone without an income source.

Me too, but in my day the candy was acid and the method of delivery was in those temp. tatoos.......... In my current years I refer to these incidents as "urban myths" once again ment to keep children scared of strangers. The moral of the story is "dont take candy from strangers, they might hurt you."
In all my life, ive never met anyone who would give drugs to children and I know some depraved fucks.
:1orglaugh Fox news. Nevermind...........
