does PPS have to be on a TRIAL to be considered PPS?

Hey

I want to know what you guys think about PPS, does the sponsor have to be paying you on a trial for you to promote them via pps, or can it be on a full join? So let's say $24.95 full join and the sponsor is paying you $35 pps

Let's discuss

No, it does not have to be on a trial.

WiredGuy 12-08-2008 12:23 PM

It should be, otherwise its really called an active join.

What difference would it make if it was a trial or active join? If it is PPS it is PPS whether the surfer opted for the trial or the full join. I can not recall any trial that did not offer the full join as well. It would not change my payout.

Would you still promote that option though?

I wouldn't take PPS for full month joins unless the PPS = 2.5 times the full month price

The difference is what webmasters perceive the difference to be...

When you tell a webmaster that you pay PPS the first thought is as trial... if it is not a trial, it should really be specified otherwise. It is easier to sell a $1.95 trial than a $24.95 full...

I am sorry, but have you seen a join page that did not offer both? Any I can think of had both options (at least) presented to the surfer.

Yes, I have seen many that only offer a high surfer join price.

Yes, there's many around.

Check out Lightspeed sites, for instance.

PPS = Pay Per Signup

So the answer to your initial question is: No, PPS does not have to be a trial.

There is no debate on this. It's a simple fact that PPS means pay per signup.

However, if a sponsor offers revshare and PPS without trials, I will promote them via revshare unless their members' area doesn't look like it will retain members once they join the site or their PPS payout is a lot more than the amount of the full join. If I think people will renew their memberships multiple times, I will always choose to promote revshare.

You are right, what I should have asked was would webmasters promote PPS if it's not on a trial!

Active join = trial membership that converts.

To me PPS means a one-time comission for acquring the customer, which is not necessarily a percentage. As far as what their trial price point is at or whether the site has a trial at all, is up to the affiliate to research and decide if they want to promote this program or not.

Mutt 12-08-2008 03:45 PM

PPS has always implied that it's PPS paid out on trial memberships.

PPS on a full month memebership is PPS only in the literal sense.

WHY would you promote a site that has NO trial and pays PPS?
Although I have seen that question a number of times......

The rule I have always lived by is simple
sponsors with NO trial i will ONLY promote using Revshare
sponsors that HAVE a trial i will ONLY promote using PPS (because once a surfer signs up to a sponsor its in THEIR hands to convert that surfer and I can't afford to WASTE a sign up for 50% of $3.95)
:2 cents:
