Would you buy a "ready to be big" site with no traffic?

Ok, so I have this concept of "free site" (no tube!), and I can't manage to work all these hours to get it up and running, then wait/buy traffic for it since I'm a full time college student and I need quick money, not long term money. So what I would do is, build it and sell it.

I know it have alot of potential to become one big "free site" of its kind, in the niche it was designed around.

I'm just wondering if anybody here would buy a "brand new" site with no traffic. Or you guys only live for traffic??

Lemme know if it's worth putting all these efforts for "quick cash" :thumbsup

isn't it the traffic that makes it a 'big' site

That's why I said ... potential to become one big "free site"

I would if the price was reasonable and it had real potential. But you wouldnt get nearly as much money for it.

I guess you guys can't really answer without seeing my site, huh ?

People don't pay for potential.

Im sorry to say it and please dont be offended. But theres a lot of sites with so called potential being sold. And people just dont pay for potential anymore. Well maybe they will pay for it when the idea is simply amazing AND its already fully done and developed so it will spare them a lot of time and energy. But even then, you would get 20% of what it would be worth.

Why not hire someone, 30-70 share, and let him do the work?

it could be worth alot based on potential, but the domain itself and the strengths of that domain would be the greatest part of that, if it's on a great, aged domain that is just waiting for content and some linking to blow up the search engines, then yes, potential could be good :2 cents:

The domain is over 1 year old, some (>10) backlinks, and there is some content laying on it. It's PR1 on Google.

Do you guys think it could worth alot more money if it's already loaded with content?? It have over 3500 cropped thumbs (by hand) for various script. Over 300 sites loaded on it. Banners are up and running.

If it's just potential, why would anyone pay. They will just contact you to look at it then build a copy.

When Google bought YouTube, they could of easily built a clone out of the petty cash drawer, it was the traffic and brand they paid for.

If it could be as big as you are saying, I wouldn't even show it to anyone around here.

Oh the "potential"... I see... let me get my 30 sided dice out and see what this babys potential is :)

That's my point. I don't want to sell it for it's "potential". It's a kinda new concept I developped, with custom scripts, paid script, custom design, custom idea. It took money and time to build. I want money for that money and time. Not for the potential. I hope it's more clear now :)

Thanks for the feedback :thumbsup

I hear ya. In that case you could get some money for the script and design, probably not for the time you put in though.

Like someone said, maybe find a partner and build it up a little first.

List it for sale and find out.

Hit me up on ICQ (1566665) and I'll take a look and let you know what the true potential is, from a traffic builder's point of view. If it truly does have potential then I may even help find you a buyer myself.

Yeah, what I will do. But from this poll, I see people want traffic, not only a great idea. So I guess if I wait some months, I can double, triple, or more my earning from selling the site. :2 cents:
