Questions for a new site

I am a new webmaster starting my very first adult website. In fact, I just starting learning to code HTML in November. I am a hardware geek, and familiar with general software, but I had never done anything with web pages except surf 'em. So, needless to say I've got a lot to learn.

My page is up, but you can tell its a 'first page' type of effort and if you look at the underlying code you'll be amazed at how closely it resembles a plate of spaghetti. I'm trying to run a blog on the site as well...I'm using wordpress for that section of the site so of course it has a completely different theme from the rest of the site. Seriously, it's sad. I have hopes of cloning my cleaned up code and moving it into the wordpress templates in the near future...and I have discovered the way wordpress splits the sections of the page into separate files...which just made my life so much easier :) Oh, and my gallery templates suck.

So assuming the stuff I had above, I had some questions:

Is it better to have one long, continuous 'main' page (which is generally what I have now), or is it better to split content out across multiple similiar pages (main1, main2, etc.)?

If I create the gallery templates, they'll be plain and simple...should I get someone to make some for me?

I have some video content I want to use, what format of video is recommended and about how long should the clips be?

I had intended to make this a paysite, but I really don't have much original content yet...so I am using mostly sponsor promotional stuff and hoping for conversions for right now. Any help or insight on how to get myself out of this mess would be appreciated...as in how to go either in the freesite or paysite direction.

Any other tips and suggestions would be appreciate as well.

The site is www dot sexy schiava dot com - an amateur BDSM site - Thanks everyone!

Depends. SE's wont pay toooo much attention if its to long so be careful there. Multiple pages work but dont have tooooo many,

You can start with your own or hire someone. If you chose to hire look around plenty of people will do it. If you want to hire the best for the best price go to www.wedesig.net her name is Czarina. Let her know I sent you over.

Depends on your surfers. WMV AVI or MPG. Those are the main ones. or you can make flash ones just depends on how you plan on using them. if its for MGP galleries then DONT use flash.

As for content. You can purchase that from lots of places as well. BUt it gets pricy. Depending on what type of content you need and where you live you may be able to shoot your own, but make sure you know about 2257 before you go much further.

I am a rep for the programs in my signature below, and I am always willing to help people. My ICQ is down there as well.

ICQ me any time.

Oh, I forgot to say that integrating your site design into WP is not going to be as easy as you think. Talk with Czarina about that as well.

Thanks for the feedback Pornguy. And you're right about the Worpress theme transition. For someone who knows what they're doing, it's not so bad...but for me, it's been a bear.

I would recommend that you use pagination. This will get visitors used to clicking around your site and becoming engaged with it instead of clicking on the red box in the uppermost right hand corner.

Some tips -
1. Do a basic XML sitemap, open webmaster accounts at Google & Yahoo and submit your sitemap NOW so it gets indexed and update it when the site is complete.

2. Get it clear what is different about your site compared to the other BDSM sites out there and "put it up on your homepage". This is so your visitors that arrive don't think that they've arrived at just "another" BDSM site.

3. Define your suite of keywords, don't overload your meta description, only your most important keywords in it.

4. With your remaining keywords, use them to create keyword rich filenames. For example, "yourURL.com/femdom-lesbian.php" pointing to a Contact Us page.

Good luck
