Recommend an external HD for me please
There are so many out there.
What do you recommend? |
WD 2TB Mirror Edition with esata connector
|
Do you want firewire, USB, or eSata?
|
Whatever you pick, get a WD.
:2 cents: |
WD for sure man. I got a MyBoook 500GB last year and it is still going very strong. Despite everything I read about external drives crashing all the time for no reason. Works great for me..
knock on wood.. |

WD and Maxtor are the better quality brands aren't they? |
you will want esata, especially for backing up
way faster than usb 2 or firewire if your laptop doese not have an esata port, get one of those esata cards also |
Also...Why external?
I currently use both of these devices and simply plug in whatever HD I want. Easily hot swapable. I use them for video editing and archiving. Thermaltake Drive Dock I know you said external but if you have an open 5.25 drive bay then this is a great option. Masscool SATA Rack |

I use a Passport Elite. I also use a Smartdisk FireLite. |
I use WD 500g Books and never had a problem
|
the 2tb mirror edition can be set up raid0 (2TB) or raid1 (1TB) ,

I'll admit I'm unfamiliar with esata. Is it used with the express card slot? |

I have two awesome western digital book I think they are called.
|
I use 2 x 250GB WD and 1 x 320GB WD. Best hard drives i've ever used before.
Put like AaronM said, their easy to carry around. |
I have 4 WD's and they are great. All 500 gigs a about 2 years old. Now the TB ones are out, so you may want to go that way. but be smart. Back up to another dive as well.

seagate has 5 year warranty on their drives.
always use a seagate or a western digital |
