I used to have this:
http://www.terababes.com/gfy/remotes.jpg

And now I have this:
http://www.terababes.com/gfy/remote.jpg

And let me tell you, IT IS AWESOME! Damn thing ran out of memory on me while I was programming it, but it does everything I want it to.

(I don't really care if you post your remotes, btw, but everything else gets posted around here, so why not)

:thumbsup

You know, I looked at a couple like this, but decided against getting one only because the screen is flat. I like to be able to feel the buttons in complete darkness, and still be able to control everything.

I'll take that as an invitation to post my remotes!

Currently I have seven in the living room, but the two identical ones in the middle are actually just visiting - I'm having some JVC issues.

I have three more in the bedroom, but that would be a bit too personal to post. :)

Yes exactly be smart like Cheshire ! Now you have to spend money on a new remote control + a fitness pass! You could have saved it both.

The scary part of this statement is WHY you spend so much time watching TV in the dark!

Why? Do they have "man stains" on them?

I'm LOLing at myself right now for coining the phrase "man stains."

:1orglaugh

P.S. Now that I think about it, I have at least 5 more remotes elsewhere in the house (TV, TV, VCR, DVD, Cable Box), and that's not counting car remotes!

Cause HDTV looks better in complete darkness - the same reason they turn the lights off in movie theaters.

Well, that and the fact that the ladies like me more when they can't see me :winkwink:

Yes, but I prefer to control my remotes without having to take my eyes off the tv screen for even a second.

It's about batteries. My one remote - a big ugly horrible universal thing that came with my receiver - chews through four AA batteries in about 2 weeks, because it has a lighted screen that it turns on anytime I press a button. I have to use rechargeables so that I don't have to redo my yearly budget.

Small remotes with two AAA batteries can go years without a change.

Hey... sorry to bump this - only just got back.

It's a Philips Pronto Pro, you can pick it up online for around $700. Although in the UK (where I am), it's more like $1k, unfortunately!

The 'like to feel the buttons rather than look for them' thing is all very well (there are 9 'hard' buttons for common functions like volume, channels etc), but to fit all your devices and design your own interface for them, it's the only thing that quite takes it, at the lower end of the 'professional' range of remotes. Of course, there are better but those are more suited to entire houses kitted out with home automation stuff.

When I got it, I was a hopeless nerd and spent around 3 days getting it just right, to control everything (including lights/ceiling fans etc) and look nice. I even built in a couple of Easter eggs. Hoho. Seriously though, you may well be better off buying an ipaq and using infra red software or something. I bought it when I had far too much money and didn't worry about tax bills ;)

Anyway, check this out if you're still interested.

It's a Philips ProntoPro Home Theater Remote. $600 or so from what I can tell. My kids would still lose it in the sofa cushions.

No kidding! The worst part is dropping it.... on wooden floors... or rather, shunting it off with an elbow and it smacking the floor with a frightening cracking sound.

The company I bought it from were very gracious though and replaced it by return, thank God!

Judging from all the name brands on your remotes, swaping them all for a single programable remote will save you plenty of embarassment. now just go rip off all the name tags on your equipment and you'll be fine :p :1orglaugh :1orglaugh
