I FUCKING HATE Christmas! Voila I said it!

I really dont like christmas. I'm sick of it repeating again and again. I don't like the weather, the atmosphere in the shops of having to rush to satisfiy everyone with a present. In malls they've been playing christmas music since early november. Covers of the origional songs with no soul... just cheaper so they can afford the credit to the artists. I hate that you can't snuggle up with your boyfriend watching some t.v in mid november without every advert trying to stress you out about what your going to buy... shoving the picture of the perfect family around the christmas tree down your throat ... perfect because they got what they wanted. The plasma screen. The laptop. The MFS sofa. I used to love it as a child and then the magic just disapeared.

I make a huge effort for Ryan, but seriously I could do without Christmas I mean what's it about really? Didn't it start with baby jesus (I'm catholic) and then out Santa came and the $$$ gifts and the crazy shopper on boxing day, people being trampled (literally) to death at Walmarts! How festive is that? I'm quite happy going somewhere hot and remote away from all this BULLSHIT!

Yeah go ahead and call me Scrooge! bah humbug!!!!!

My family dropped the gift idea a LONG time ago.

thanksgiving we do a drawing for secret santa - you get 1 person you spend 30 to 50$ on and an email goes out with the list.

Come chrismas time, its really just time to be with the family and have a really nice meal and spend time together.

money money money.... it's all about spending money.

Have you seen the Best Buy commercials? The one where the guy is looking for the "You're the best father ever!!" present?

The guy takes him through the various electronics to the big screen mega expensive tv because that's the "best father ever!!" present.

Sadly, it's a statement of where we've come. The little box tells you that your child won't love you unless you spend a fortune, and people believe it.

I like Xmas cause its time for the tamale, the enchilada, the churro and the chocolate espeso... no other time in the year these taste soooo good ... as for the consumism and social pressures of xmas you are right

X-mas is what you make it yourself. Dont buy in to the hype and just enjoy seeing your family....and merry Christmas

I feel the same way.not sure if was caused by bad memories but I'm miserable around this time of year.I just want to kick Santa in the nuts

I'm not overly excited by Christmas myself anymore however it is what you make it.

Time spent with friends over a nice dinner outweighs any items I can buy them. Time spent with loved ones is even better.

I offered my family and friends a simple gift - come to my home for a breakfast, a lunch or a dinner at my home. We get to spend more time together and create new memories.

Xmas is about the love shared. Not the cash blown :thumbsup

I have not been in the USA for christmas in 2 years. Ugh.

Christmas these days is about consuming, nothing more. For those who can get together with friends and loved ones and enjoy their company without the pressures of store bought shit, I salute you.

The saddest part is those who have family to spend the holidays with, most of the time, don't even appreciate it. This is the toughest one yet for me and the only thing forcing me to create new traditions is my little girl. She knows that if we sat out here in the woods with the upcoming power outage eating bologna sandwiches, we will cherish every single minute more than anyone could even know.

I purposely have not purchased cable tv for the very reason of what a joke christmas has turned out to be. I'm teetering between feeling like a scrooge and attempting to inspire my family in how to make the best out of what is our biggest year of pure nightmare.

I won't really know how bad it will suck till the day comes but so far, it bites ass. :disgust

true that..but at least I get to spend time with the fam..

all my family are coming to my place this year.. and having a dinner with all my friends..

I really hate thou.. when I have to drive 6 hours to my parents than 2 hour to get my daughter and 2 hours another way to see the wife parents and family.. and exchange gifts with everyone.. its hard on us when we have the 3 kids.. thou this year we get off easy cause everyone is coming here on xmas :)

my daughter has been singing xmas songs for a week and a half (singing xmas songs in school)... I have to love christmas. couple years she may learn santa doesn't exist but i sure as hell ain't gonna be the one that tells her.

The irony though is they stopped the pledge of allegiance earlier this year...

I love Christmas and what I fucking hate is when people put Xmas. Its not Xmas, you are taking Christ out of Christmas.

religion was taken out of the christmas equation long ago, by forces much greater than I... plus, since I was prefacing xmas, with 'I fucking hate', I thought it might be more offensive if I didn't abbreviate the word... because really... xmas is just an abbreviation. lighten up.

I've had to reign in my wife's gift purchasing this year, partly because of the $ she's spending but mostly because my 3 year old daughter has so many presents we're going to end up with CRAP (figuratively speaking) all over the floor...

Presents are nice but I enjoy seeing my family the most. That's what it's all about IMHO.

I enjoy getting together with family but now as we are all adults I could do without the gift giving. Its like we are just exchanging the same money back and forth.

Meh, there's always one who doesn't like Christmas... this is not new.

I think Christmas should be for the kids.

We watch very very few TV and we live in a smaller-poorer-EU country, not in its capital city. The hype here is not so huge.

It's funny after I wrote this thread last night I went out and actually caught myself enjoying all the Christmas lights at night! Shhhhhh!!!!!! I have a reputation to keep as a miserable bitch who hates the holidays! :winkwink:

I have been saying this for years Xmas really sucks, always has always will. Why do i need other people buying me gifts that i can already buy for myself. Ive started to give trips to my family, took mom to New Orleans for Halloween and gave my g/f a trip to Paris for Xmas this year.

Every year since 2000 i take all my friends out to dinner for the holidays, its so much more fun to spend the night toghter drinking ,eating and bullshitting then giving someone a stupid little present that they barely ever use.

Makes me feel great about being in a remote and hot place away from all the bullshit. One thing is for sure . . . I won't be buying presents for anyone again this year!:thumbsup

I hear you. We plan to try and teach my son a little different. We are teaching him about santa but as a spirit of christmas and its not the getting but the giving. He is just 3 so he does not understand yet, but we will work on it.

II'm glade you said it ... I thought I was the only one, but I mainly hate the lead up to Xmas.... the money money money .... costs a fortune to fulfill the requests on the list to Santa! As you buy stuff you know that the day after Xmas it will be at least 30% cheaper!

Once Xmas morning arrives I relax and enjoy the day with the family ... but then we normally have great weather around this time of year and have a BBQ lunch and go to the beach in the afternoon.... Just my :2 cents:

Yep christmas can be real annoying.

I hate the Xmas commercials that show someone getting a new Lexus or that expensive pair of diamond earrings. When ever I see those ads I wonder if people actually buy that sort of shit? I guess if the meaning of Xmas to you is to spend a shit load of cash on those that you love then that's cool. To each their own. I personally like Xmas, it's suppose to be a time in which you surround yourself with family and friends. Sad thing for me though is that I haven't spent Xmas with my family since 1997. This year makes it 10yrs since I have been home for Xmas. Thank goodness for good friends.

It doesn't snow here and doesn't get all of that cold, and all of our Christmas shopping is done before Thanksgiving. Then we drive down to Southern California to spend the day with family.....

I hate the jewelry store commercials almost as much as I hate that nobody says "Merry Christmas" any more.

I never saw that as a religious commentary, just a seasonal salutation. Oh well, some sensitive fuck musta sued some wuss company and now everyone is petrified. blah.

I do christmas for the kids and that's about it.. I already feel like punching people out in malls, so I subject myself to it as little as possible.

My family is not religious so we never bought into the whole thing.

However being married is a different story. Now we have Hanukkah and Christmas and they are all about the material. I can't handle it. I told my wife this year she does everything if she wants to buy people stuff. I am DONE giving things to people just because Christians stole a pagan holiday.

Presents are overrated

I cant help it I really love Christmas. I dont buy into the more expensive the present the better bullshit though. The people that I get for I really put thought into what they would love. As far as my kids go they do get spoiled at Christmas but I dont spoil them at all during the year and they are both straight A students. They really appreciate what they get too. I love making tons of cookies to give away and having everyone over on Christmas eve to hang out.

xmas was always super miserable growing up in my family.
when i moved down here to be with tony things changed. i really started enjoying xmas. i mean, it was the first time i ever experienced a holiday without screaming and crying.
it was exciting for me for the first couple of years. but its started to get played. i still like getting presents tho. :)
