there seems to be a trend towards low carbohydrate diets with high protein/low fat instead... seems to work on the ppl i know who have done it

lamrobertson 11-11-2002 03:18 PM

Low carb, high protein. Eat lots of lean meat and limit the amount of complex carbs you get. Stay away from the bread, pasta, etc. Also avoid sugar. Get a membership to the gym and a good routine and you'll be amazed at how fast you can lose it. Muscle burns fat!

Eat lots of vegetables and lean meat, drink fruit juice and lots of water. Drink two glasses of water before each meal, take a walk after each meal.

Machete_ 11-11-2002 03:39 PM

Easy way:

Eat 15% less (still no junkfood) and move 25% more (fitness center, walk, run, bike, ect.)

Fruit juice = bad...Lots-o-sugars.

There is the atkins diet which is an all protien, no carb diet...It had been quite success full, but get prepared to feel worse than better at first.

Essentially, you only eat protiens with absolutly no carbs for the first 3 weeks...Eggs, Cheese, Bacon, Pork, Beef, etc, etc...No veggies except for possibly 1 stick of celery...This is going to cause your body to go into ketosis...Which, essentially equals out to your body feeding off of it's own fat.

The theroy behind it, what Dr. Atkins explains, is that in effect, you are supplying ZERO carbs to your body...The body feeds on carbs in order to produce energy...Because you are denying your body the carbs it needs in order to function, it turns to fat and burns fat to keep you energized.

At first, your going to feel horribly sluggish and want to nap all the time, no energy at all...Just fight it and keep up...Drink lots of water and take LOTS of viatmins, as these are greatly deprived during the diet, but much needed for your health.

After the first 2 weeks you should hit ketosis...This is when you start feeling energized...Depending on how lean the meats are and how low fat you make the diet depends on how fast you will burn...The leaner the meat, the better...You can purchase keotine strips to test for ketosis by testing the amount of ketones.

I've seen it work wonders!

HARD way

1 - Start EVERY morning with a good breakfast. Kellogs Allbrand with milk and rasins is good. That way you kickstart your metabolism, and you start burning fat, as soon as you are up.

2 - Eat EVERY 3 houers.. small doses, but you need protin (low fat beef or chiken - but NO HAM !!!!!!!!) Get about 100Grams of food, combined with some salad or pasta

3 - DRINK A LOT OF WATER... star every day with about 05-1 liter of clean water.. no taste aditives... put in a tabelspoon of salt, to make your body absorb it faster

4 - Work out... dont matter if its Fitnesscenter or walking... just do it.

One DAy every week, go crazy with junkfood and candy.. it woorks both for your body and mind.

About sugar... sugar is bad if its bound to stuff.. like Ice or Coka-cole.. sugar alone, like on top of fruit dosent harm that much, because your body dosent digest it the same way.

You might try an appetite suppressant such as Dexitrim, or some all natural Ephedra .

Not only will use of appetite suppressants reduce your caloric intake, it also give you more "ENERGY". Use this enhanced energy to EXERCISE. I would suggest intense cardio work such as running on a treadmill, or an intramural sport such as basketball.

This high level of exercise combined with a low calorie diet will get you slim in no time.

Losing weight is very hard. I know people that have lost a shit load on Atkins, but they gain it back if they stop. Plus who can live without carbs. Take away my pasta and breads, no way jose, I'll tak the poundage any day.

The way I've found that works best is just eating half of whatever you want. That will drop your daily calorie intake without having to give up any of your favorites. And then at least a vigorous 30 to 60 minutes of working out, walking, swimming, riding or SEX!

Also, go to the supermarket on a full tummy so you don't crave as much of the bad stuff.

KRL 11-11-2002 04:03 PM

Also, I really think those suppressants are dangerous. My ex has taken those before and it really fucks up your system and makes you jittery, nervous, and moody as hell.

yeah, this is the easiest one to get into and keep going.
its a lifestyle change really. if you are starting from a point where you don't work out at all you will notice a definite change very quickly.

dirtyone 11-11-2002 04:24 PM

Anybody can lose weight. Keeping it off involves a lifestyle change. Try this it works.

psyko514 11-11-2002 04:28 PM

I'm on a seefood diet. I see food, I eat it.

Schwick 11-11-2002 06:06 PM

Eat foods as close to their natural state as possible (raw veggies and fruits). Eat seafood and poultry as your protein. Remember have you ever seen a non-domesticated animal that is fat? Why is that? They eat in the natural state and often. Eat a small portion about every 2-3 hours and work out 6 times per week for 45 minutes. One day weights, one day running/biking. Do this for one month as a religion and you will see th difference. and drink a lot of water.

Why not take the time to actually know the atkins diet before stating what it is and have no idea. www.atkinscenter.com

If you're truly serious about it, then definitely go with Weight Watchers. You can buy the program online; you don't need to go to the meetings and all that jazz if you don't want to. It's a very healthy diet/lifestyle and it works.

Nothing wrong with carbohydrates, or fruit and fruit juice for that matter. If you want to take some unhealthy diet that works very quickly, it might work wonders to stop eating those things, but if you want to be healthy and fit, you just need good food and a good deal of exercise.
Not some theory on losing weight, but a balanced lifestyle. If you stop eating carbohydrates, I can assure you you will never run a marathon again.

kmanrox 11-12-2002 04:59 AM

im am on a diet of anabol, deca, and sustenon, with about 6000 calories of real food =) so when my nuts are on gary's face they will be smaller

goBigtime 11-12-2002 05:20 AM

Do the low carb / high protien thing & go get some Ketostix from the grocery store (diabetic urine strips).

Ketosis is what makes all those low carb diets work. Look it up on google. The Ketostix just give you a sort of real-time GUI to your fat-burning. A good motivator I would think.. to know that the bag of chips you just ate fucked up your fat burning for awhile.

It does work though. I know a couple people who have done it, kept off the weight & felt great doing it.

Lots of diets these days are based on it:

PaleoDiet, Atkins, Caveman, Zone, Blood Type Diet
(type O.. more than half the people in the world are O's - thats why this Book/Diet/Movement took off).

Hell, put together a book of recipes and start your own diet!

I'll tell you, one of the best things I've ever done is hire a personal chef to cook for me. She comes by twice a week and drops off a bunch of chicken breasts, london broil, chicken dishes and vegetables in tupperware. I have a rice maker that I keep fired up all the time. It's trivial to heat up some chicken and vegetables, add some rice and you've got a healthy meal.

Check your local alternative weekly for anyone who'll do that, or if you're in San Diego and you're interested I'll give you her number..
