Living without INTERNET

Assuming you could leave all your projects on auto for a while with

only a slight decrease in income.

Could you survive 1 year without the internet?

No e-mails, no stats, no browsing, no icq and no mobile.

JUST a landline phone

Could you?

be honest!

Fletch XXX 12-19-2008 01:32 PM

i took a year off when i moved

however, i did look at the internet a little i just didnt work lol took a full year from webmastering and just spent time with family and started a garden and writing

The Duck 12-19-2008 01:33 PM

Where I live now, no. Fuck that. This place sucks.

At some more stimulating place in the world? Sure.

martinsc 12-19-2008 01:35 PM

i don't think i could... i'm addicted...

Scott Jack 12-19-2008 01:37 PM

I couldn't live without access to the internet.

I could live without working online for a year though lol, but I'd still need my emails, social profiles and online poker lol.

that sounds nice, i find whenever i do not have access to the internet i am just so much more relaxed and find the time to do so many things...even if it is just reading a good book or clearing my mind of things

what kind of writing was it if i may ask?

ya same here...dark and damp UK, not much to do really

yet while in Nice, south of france for 4 months i did not touch the internet besides a couple of times to arrange flights

BlackCrayon 12-19-2008 01:56 PM

i could but i wouldn't want to.

d-null 12-19-2008 01:57 PM

internet is necessary

that is like asking "could you live without indoor plumbing and have to use a frozen old wooden outhouse for a bathroom"...... of course you could do it, but it would suck so bad it is hard to even imagine

munki 12-19-2008 01:57 PM

You can do that?

streaming consciousness

u-Bob 12-19-2008 02:00 PM

No, impossible.

EXPORT 12-19-2008 05:01 PM

but once you get used to it...it is rather relaxing

wait...do i really want to talk to some freaks online?

or do i really want to go out and get to know the local babes?

"I like to get pounded from behind!".....

"Oh really? as luck would have it I like to pound from behind!" etc...

Martin 12-19-2008 05:05 PM

I am the internet.

VicD 12-19-2008 05:07 PM

For me no problem, i don't do this fulltime, i have a real job to do :)

HorseShit 12-19-2008 05:07 PM

inner nets are my escape

pornask 12-19-2008 05:09 PM

I returned from Cuba 3 weeks ago where I was without any internet, without phones (both cell phones and land line) and loved every minute of it. I'm considering this type for break for at a few months instead of weeks in 2009.

baddog 12-19-2008 05:10 PM

If I had people to take care of everything for me you would never see me again.

nice, my thoughts exactly!

if money is not an issue, why not get away from it all and enjoy life!

have a couple of months each year just enjoying life as it is

people have been able to do it before...so why should it be a burden now?

awww seriously?

i am sure that from time to time you would

feel the urge to set someone straight...

even if just about some grammar issue

J/K but i am sure you would not make it past 4 weeks

it was a dark time, having to spend money on long distance to call up far away bbs's, games that weren't online were the biggest thing one could do

quiet 12-19-2008 07:35 PM

after 12 years of non-stop working online, i went to Thailand/Laos/Cambodia last year for 6 months and was completely cut off from the internet, other than a weekly stop in the odd internet cafe (with incredibly slow connections), to fire off a couple of emails to friends and family. it was difficult at first, but after around 2 weeks, it felt great.

I could live without indoor plumbing if I still had Internet access :1orglaugh

If it weren't for my work being online, I wouldn't be on near as much.

I would assign that duty to someone else.

sarad 12-19-2008 08:41 PM

Probably might start having more sex with no internet access :winkwink:

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh Definitely

TyroneGoldberg 12-19-2008 09:16 PM

yes. i don't even need the landline. i might go this route sooner than later.

J. Falcon 12-19-2008 09:20 PM

No internet would do a lot of us some good if we did not starve.

d-null 12-19-2008 09:25 PM

I am on the internet 12 hours a day already,

and I look forward to the day when I have no need to work anymore so I could spend 18 hours a day online just for fun

(gaming too of course, but the thought of having no responsibility or need to make money anymore and be able to immerse yourself into just doing it all for fun would be awesome)

sorry, had to

DWB 12-19-2008 09:40 PM

I TOTALLY disconnected for 3 months once. No nothing. It was great.

Then reality hit and I had a pile of shit to do and I've been trying to catch up every since.

That's the tough part. Internet pays my bills, and I was thrown back to reality just the same when I'd returned from Cuba. However you can't put the price tag on awesome time I had and the break that my mind took from all the bullshit. Too bad reality slaps you in the face afterwards.

EXPORT 12-21-2008 03:21 PM

about to do 10 days offline, should be nice

hypedough 12-21-2008 03:38 PM

The most I could do is probably a month. If I had video games, shit I could be offline for years haha.

Bro Media - BANNED FOR LIFE 12-21-2008 03:38 PM

Depends on how much money is coming in and how badly it dwindles down while I'm away.

never thought about that, but you are right, having games would make being offline a little more tolerable, not completely though :2 cents:
