Assuming you could leave all your projects on auto for a while with

only a slight decrease in income.

Could you survive 1 year without the internet?

No e-mails, no stats, no browsing, no icq and no mobile.

JUST a landline phone

i took a year off when i moved

however, i did look at the internet a little i just didnt work lol took a full year from webmastering and just spent time with family and started a garden and writing

Where I live now, no. Fuck that. This place sucks.

At some more stimulating place in the world? Sure.

I couldn't live without access to the internet.

I could live without working online for a year though lol, but I'd still need my emails, social profiles and online poker lol.

that sounds nice, i find whenever i do not have access to the internet i am just so much more relaxed and find the time to do so many things...even if it is just reading a good book or clearing my mind of things

yet while in Nice, south of france for 4 months i did not touch the internet besides a couple of times to arrange flights

I returned from Cuba 3 weeks ago where I was without any internet, without phones (both cell phones and land line) and loved every minute of it. I'm considering this type for break for at a few months instead of weeks in 2009.

If I had people to take care of everything for me you would never see me again.

it was a dark time, having to spend money on long distance to call up far away bbs's, games that weren't online were the biggest thing one could do

after 12 years of non-stop working online, i went to Thailand/Laos/Cambodia last year for 6 months and was completely cut off from the internet, other than a weekly stop in the odd internet cafe (with incredibly slow connections), to fire off a couple of emails to friends and family. it was difficult at first, but after around 2 weeks, it felt great.

yes. i don't even need the landline. i might go this route sooner than later.

No internet would do a lot of us some good if we did not starve.

I am on the internet 12 hours a day already,

and I look forward to the day when I have no need to work anymore so I could spend 18 hours a day online just for fun

(gaming too of course, but the thought of having no responsibility or need to make money anymore and be able to immerse yourself into just doing it all for fun would be awesome)

I TOTALLY disconnected for 3 months once. No nothing. It was great.

Then reality hit and I had a pile of shit to do and I've been trying to catch up every since.

That's the tough part. Internet pays my bills, and I was thrown back to reality just the same when I'd returned from Cuba. However you can't put the price tag on awesome time I had and the break that my mind took from all the bullshit. Too bad reality slaps you in the face afterwards.

The most I could do is probably a month. If I had video games, shit I could be offline for years haha.

Depends on how much money is coming in and how badly it dwindles down while I'm away.

never thought about that, but you are right, having games would make being offline a little more tolerable, not completely though :2 cents:
