Need appraisal for a domain name
Hi All,
Although I've been doing domainin for more than 2 years now and being an active user in other domain name forums, I'm a new guy here. I was wondering what you guys think about a name I recently bought. It's MegaShit [Dot] Com. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks. |
Not sure, a couple of hundred dollars? It has a nice ring to it and is pretty memorable.
|
scat site?
|
Wow thats pretty fast response guys.. Thanks for replyin. Um... I checked archive.org and yeah it used to be a scat site before:Oh crap

If google isnt linking to it after 8 years and no site on it, then I wouldnt pay extra for a domain name because of its age. If he's practically starting from scratch then he might as well buy amegsshit.com, eMegsshit, iMegashit.com for $7. but if he wants to pay extra for a nothing domain then go for it. |
that domain wouldn't count as being aged, as it has dropped in between that time, so realistically it is just like any other brand new name, other than the other potential possibility that it may be also banned in google, in which case it would be worse than a brand new name
if it truly had continuous age then it would be worth much more, but as it is it doesn't look very promising if it is banned, a name like "megashit" might have a hard time getting unbanned :1orglaugh |

I was not saying clickhappy but I was asking if that actually gives value to the domain name. Anyways... could you tell me what you meant when you said Google isn't linking to the name?/ Thanks. |

Buy it because you like it, but dont buy it because you think you can put a site on it and suddenly get ranks high in the serps. Especially if the site has been empty for so long. I wouldnt buy it because the name isnt memorable. I left for a few minutes and came back to this thread and already forgot the name, majorshit.com? megashit.com? manyshit.com? And what is it? a scat site? Youre not going to build a successful business on a site that has the word "shit" on it, unless its a scat site, and good luck with that. Name 1 site with the word "shit" in the title that is successful, and not a scat site? |
My point was more to the fact that the reason you see nothing is because its been a recently dropped/caught domain, and has been purged by google as to not display, or removed from the index.
There is lots of conflicting arguments about whether or not this removal is permanent or not, and I'll just leave it as saying it "depends". They say that google removes the site from the index and discounts all current links to it, and makes the owners start over. From experience this is completely false. I have several dropped domains (purchased this year) that had all Page Rank, Backlinks, Serps and traffic return to them a few weeks after taking them over. Sites have solid rank, serps, and steady traffic, most of it from google. I also have several domains that are 10-12 years old, all dropped, and most hold well paying positions on google after a little work. Most peoples understanding of drops and the way google handles them is just not correct. All appeared to be "banned" or penalized after taking them over, and throughout the drop process. I'm no master, but its not always as cut and dry as it appears, almost everything has some sort of work around. And nothing can be told by a single search, in 2 weeks that page could show 200 backlinks, OR could be as useless and worthless as mentioned. Just so this isnt totally useless info, follow this time tested method. 1. Catch Dropped Domain. 2. ??????? 3. Profit. :thumbsup |

good luck with whatever you decide to do. |
good points, but there are differences in the way domains drop, and this one is dropped in one of the worst ways.... in other words, if you do a whois it shows up as being created "2008-11-29"
you can pick up expired domains that have not completely dropped like that, and in those cases the whois will show the original creation date....... in the case of megashit.com the creation date in the whois shows that the domain is less than a month old, which is how google will treat it's age :2 cents: |
I'd say $300. I just don't see the point in the name other than for scat freaks.
|
Thanks JDoughs and d-null, those are some points I did not know. Um... d-null, how to pick up a name that's not expired completely? Thanks ClickHappy mostly I will sell the name.

one example is godaddy sells domains through tdnam.com and they auction them off before they drop them completely, and they even keep some for themselves if they have some value, you won't get them for reg fee though unless they are unwanted by anyone through the whole process most of the registrars pick over the domains before they completely drop, so you will never get anything completely great for reg fee, will never happen |
Just one last question. Does Pool.com deleting domains auctions come under the category of not being completely expired too?/
Thanks. |
i suggest over pricing it and selling it with the faggot from xpays, it is not meant to sell it is just meant to show off a shitty domain dropping service.

Furthermore, megashit can be used for variety of sites, including scat as it has already been mentioned here, but it would also work for humor site, maybe a blog of political fuck ups or just any fucks up that take place on daily basis. You could also make it a movie review site and it would still work great. It's such a universal name that you can't go wrong. Hater wannabies will always run it down cause their domains suck, so out of envy they make themselves feel better by saying it's not worth reg fee. Fucking clueless fags... |

I can easily see Roger Ebert becoming a featured columnist for megashit.com. Maybe you can get Tom Cruise or Julia Roberts to give interviews for megashit.com and do promos for you. "This is Julia Roberts and youre watching Megashit.com" I look forward to seeing your incredible empire built on megashit.com |
the first thing I care about when I am looking at buying a domain is how google sees the domain, to me that is the first most important thing... then I move onto the rest of the details
ie. I would much rather buy hottie-babe-girls.net if it had 10,000 backlinks listed in google and was 10 years old whois creation than hottiebabegirls.com if it didn't even show up when site searched for :2 cents: |
Mixed response.. Thank you soo much guys for replying.
|
I wouldn't even pay to renew it, and you've been domainin? more like mcdonalds time
