A nice smooth, sweet, all around great tasting irish whiskey. Didn't expect anything else from Jameson. Get it at your local likka sto now, nigga!

baddog 12-20-2008 10:27 AM

I can't believe you actually show signs of having taste. Let me guess, you mix it with Coke.

Agent 488 12-20-2008 11:05 AM

drank a load of jameson last night. water, a few cubes and a generous bartender.

There is hope for you yet. It's 10:30 AM but I'll join you in a shot.

the 12 year is pretty good, but i prefer the jameson gold or jameson 1780. both exceptionally light and smooth, but flavorful at the same time.

better than all the jameson's though (i think) is Redbreast 12 year Pure Pot Still. all the jameson's are a blend, but the redbreast is not. giving each run of it a slightly different character. the taste is excellent, and it is smoother than whiskey costing twice as much per bottle.

aside from that Midleton is quite impressive. i prefer redbreast over it (especially when you factor in the $180 a bottle price tag), but it is a very unique and interesting whiskey. it's made in limited production runs by the jameson distillery. i recommend drinking it neat with just a small splash of water to open up the nose and taste.

cheers.

12 year old is one of my favourite tipples. Great for an everyday day and doesn't cost the earth.

Hate to break it to you, but Jameson is not a blend. Pick up a bottle and read on the label, it clearly says single malt.

jmcb420 12-20-2008 03:57 PM

Jameson's is my favorite whiskey outright. Great shit, best mixed with ice.

Although, I have to admit when I'm in the mood to get tanked I just buy Black Velvet. Once your drunk, It makes no difference.

also single malt is a term that is used to refer to scotch, not irish whiskey.

Having Baddog hit the hooch in the early morn purely from recognizing your taste in said hooch is a fine sign of respect :pimp

Going to have to pick some up :thumbsup

I never had a taste for that type of stuff. My room mate was a big drinker like a bottle of scotch a night. He would talk about how smooth, one night I said pour me some and it tasted like gasoline to me. lol

Scotch is not Irish whiskey, and there are some terrible scotches.

Pretty good, but I'l stick with Johnny Walker :winkwink:

Calico Jack 12-21-2008 04:53 AM

I also like Glenlivet (Scotch). Of the more affordable brands, it's probably my favourite.

I wonder...
Quote:

Single malt whisky is a whisky which is distilled at a single distillery, and which is made completely from a single type of malted grain, traditionally barley, (although there are also single malt rye whiskies). Most single malt whiskies are distilled using a pot still. Single malts are produced all over the world, but the best known single malts come from Scotland, Ireland and Japan.

Kudles 12-22-2008 05:43 PM

Sounds yummy!

I recently made the jump to Jameson from Jack and cokes... and I don't think I will ever look back.

Nothing like a nice icy Jameson to get you in a good mood. :thumbsup

BTW, just to clarify, took a look at my own bottles of Jameson and couldn't find a single one whose label said "A BLEND" like the ones you posted. Wonder if it has anything to do with where it was purchased?
