Is this a good hosting deal...?

$300/mo

CPU 2.66 Ghz Core2Duo
RAM 2GB
SATA2 Hard drives 2 x 500GB
Unmetered bandwidth 10mbps
Direct Admin included
IPs included 14
RAID 1 (0 optional)
Managed support

is that good or can I do better from a great reputable company?

The Duck 12-20-2008 01:37 PM

I think Webair will beat any comparable hosting offer or something like that, hit up Gerard and check.

Sly 12-20-2008 01:37 PM

Yep, it is a good deal based on the information that you have provided... but the support and reliability also play a major role in value. So you really need to consider that. If the company is known for support and reliability, go for it.

Yes, you can get cheaper... but cheaper is not always better. Good, cheap, and fast... you can have two of the three, is what they say.

clickhappy 12-20-2008 01:39 PM

I don't mind paying, but I have a budget too that i have to watch and Im annoyed when a hosting company wont bend at all for me when ive been a great customer. its like negotiating with a robot.

jscott 12-20-2008 01:45 PM

Seems decent, but I'm pretty sure you can get better than that, the 500gb is nice tho

HorseShit 12-20-2008 01:53 PM

Well, let's see, you pulled that from phatservers.com and they're a good company, i'd say go for it

baddog 12-20-2008 01:54 PM

No, I don't get involved when someone is quoting something from another site.

with the price of ram these days, I can't understand why hosting companies aren't just maxing out ram in their offers... must be a great upsell.

I don't know about the server listed in the post but most of our servers now will hold 32 GB of ram, not a cheap option, but if we see the majority of customers asking for it I wouldnt have a problem making it standard. Of course most people dont need it and for sure alot would not want to pay for it.

clickhappy: we do not offer "unmetered", we can cap a connection if you like to avoid overuse charges, I would be happy to discuss your needs if you are still looking.

Good Luck!

We've been with Canaca.ca for quite a few years. Founded in 1998, based in Toronto - we've found them extremely reliable, fast and among the best prices anywhere.

We're just satisfied clients - not resellers.
