"Dutch" isn't a country, it's our language. It's called the Netherlands and Holland is basically just a part of the Netherlands (2 provinces).

Edit: I asked and the guy above answered! |
Holland is a name in common usage given to two regions in the western part of the Netherlands. The name 'Holland' is also often mistakenly used to refer to the whole of The Netherlands. From the 10th century to the 16th century it was a unified political region ruled by the Count of Holland. By the 17th century, Holland had risen to become a maritime and economic power, dominating other parts of The Netherlands. Today, the former County of Holland consists of the two Dutch provinces of North Holland and South Holland.
hope this is the answer to your question :thumbsup |

It's like "Rome" actually being Roma, Cologne in Germany is actually called "Koln" or "The Hague" is translated from "Den Haag" which is the name of the city. |

People who live in the uk also known as britain live in 4 different countries known as, England, Scotland, Wales and northern Ireland, we all speak english, but, cornish have there own language, as do the welsh, also scots can speak gaelic, and northern ireland also have there own gaelic language. ancestors of great britain are also known as australians and americans, austalians and americans also have a different language which people from Britain have a very hard time understanding because it does not make sense and the accents make us piss ourselves!
Another history Lesson I would like to bring to attention is: holland is part of the netherlands, the netherlands is a region of europe which includes parts of holland and germany (lets not bring up the war) and is known to us english speaker as Holland, where they speak Dutch. If you want to learn of a strange country with many different languages look up BELGIUM. they speak: french, german and flemish. Belgians speak flemish not belgiush! Think before you post! |

P.S my history lesson might not be 100% correct but if you seach shitipedia for what I have said you will find that my lesson is not far off!

Here's a funny one: I tell people I'm in .cr, which is Costa Rica, but most people think of Croatia right away -- but their name for the country is Hrvatska so they get .hr instead.
