I'm still waiting for a "Core Installation" like in 2008 server. No bullshit effects, preinstalled memconsuming services. Just the fundamental core runtimes and GUI needed to run your applications (and games)

Oh yes, a new Windows. Get ready to see this screenshot... ALOT. :2 cents:

its very different, but in a good way. Like Win2000 was better than WinME

tranza 12-29-2008 11:44 AM

I'm still stiking with XP over here.

I guess the Vista flop send MS back to the drawing board and make them come up with something stable, innovative & worth while

farkedup 12-29-2008 12:31 PM

guys this is just Vista that uses less memory and some oddball new features. Nice Evolution, certainly not revolutionary.

czarina 12-29-2008 12:33 PM

I hate new windows!

seeandsee 12-29-2008 12:33 PM

It's just tweaked vista

Maybe you should try the beta or at least read the docs about it before you speak out :2 cents: moron

me too :)
takes a lot of time to find out all new buttons & possibilities.
But I have a hardware guy in the office and if he says I need it and if the version is really stable, he puts it on my PC after I tell him NO for at least a year :1orglaugh

I liked WIN98SE, I still have one PC (not connected to the web) running on it for 6 years 24/7 without ANY errors or blue screens. XP comes next. Vista I deleted on most PC's or set it to "classic look".

What do you find good on Windows 7 compared to previous versions?

security, preformance and the way the internet and OS works together

things like " AppLocker" will save me 5-8 hours each time I install a new server, because I dont have to set up and document 500 seperate Group Policies.

HorseShit 12-29-2008 01:04 PM

It's vista with a new theme

Machete_ 12-29-2008 01:05 PM

But that said, I still think there are things I would have liked to be included in the release version. I have seen some of the tools made by some of the microsoft usergroups, and I think the update and installation standards were something they would include this time.

It's things that are possible to make right now, and you can add it to your current Install, but I would like to see it integrated as a onebutton solution to a problem everyone have.

V_RocKs 12-29-2008 02:16 PM

Windows XP till I die, yo!

qxm 12-29-2008 02:19 PM

...they have to do something about that weird design... I like how Vista looks compared to dat new thing.... hopefully it will be stable as hell to compensate for the lack of visual fines ...
