Samsung Rant Phone for Sprint- 5 stars!

I was carrying an old Motorola cell for years that just could handle voice and text, and recently upgraded to a new Samsung Rant cell phone for my Sprint service. Why did I choose this inexpensive phone instead of a touch screen phone or Windows smart phone? I don't like stroking the screen of touch screen phones like the iphone and their ilk, I prefer the tactile feel of solid buttons. Nor do I like using Windows based smart phones because let's face it, they are all just too slow in my opinion. I can't wait more than two seconds for almost anything to happen on a device like a cell phone. Especially for an impatient someone who wants to make quick calls, send and receive texts rapidly and im's and also take advantage of some other features like web browsing on a limited basis. I also like the so-called One Click interface that puts a lot of features at your fingertips incl, news, weather, sports, contacts, google, Youtube, and everythign else the phone offers. The slide out keyboard is pretty good with four rows of buttons including common punctuation. It can also do T9 text input when you hold it upright as well. The responsiveness is very snappy throughout.

One big draw back however is that the standard web browser sucks big time. And another drawback- by default, one is led to understand that there is no way to add custom ringtones to the device. However, two killer apps I found online have solved those issues. Opera Mini ver 3.1 works well on the phone, and can even pull up a text heavy forum like GFY! If I ever have free time in my life I will never be bored again! Two, there is a site online that can send your own mp3s from your hard drive onto your phone that you can then use as ring tones if you wish!

I actually am saving a lot of money compared to the ancient plan I used to be on with a $69.95/month everything data plan that has 450 minutes of talk time. All the data and messaging are free, plus lots of other unlimited evening talk time and other free features like email, GPS, and some music & tv entertainment. I think the plan and the phone $50 after rebate are a hell of a deal. I'm very impatient and use my phone for business, so I wouldn't be putting up with any slowpoke nonsense on the phone itself or on the network, which i have to say is pretty dam fast here in South Florida. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a cool phone that has lots of features that has snappy responsiveness, and doesn't want a touch screen or full featured Windows mobile device.
