Travelling around Europe this summer, best sights to see?
Hey all I am going to travel around Europe this summer and wondering what the best things are to see? I am going to all the major cities, let me know your favourite things to see/do that you enjoyed.
I have so far, Nou camp in Barcalona, Northern lights in Norway, Auschwitz in Poland, Venice, White sensation in Amsterdam. Anything else? There must be tonnes! |
You should consider trying out vagina for a change. Might change your whole outlook on life.
|
Might as well check out Ireland.
|
Amsterdam. Casa Rosso and the Banana bar!
:thumbsup |
I'd highly suggest dropping your course and just arriving at Amsterdam, renting a car and setting an end point somewhere in the south, going through all of central, a bit of northern, a bit of eastern EU.
Did this last summer with my own car. Drove from Amsterdam to Rome through Sweden, lol. Good times, but very hard on gas. |
Amsterdam if you want hookers and dope, besides sex and drugs its shit hole.
South of france and Italy from the alps down to rome, passing through milan if you like fashon and florence. Spain is also very nice, been to Majorca, Barcelona and Madrid. I agree that Eire is a very nice place, if your going to be up there i suggest also scotland and wales. |

Summer is not realy the time for the Northern Lights up here in Norway seeing as they happen in the winter dark..
The mindnight sun and our splendid nature however is somthing you should check out. Make sure to come up north to my parts around Tromsø if you decide to make the trip. This is where it gets realy good :P |

Yes, our women are fine.. :) June 20th or 21st is the summer solstice the "sunniest" day of the year and thus the theoretical ideal day for seeing the Midnigth sun, and the day of the year when seeing the Norther Lights is theoreticaly most unlikely, as these are mostly visible in the dark. I say theoreticaly becouse here where I live the midnigth sun lasts 24hours for an extended period and 24hours is max, cant get more sun than that in a day ;) To see the Midnight Sun all you have to do is go north of the Arctic Circle (@ 66° 33′39″) during the season. The season for midnight sun increases as you get closer to the north (or south) pole. Our (norwegian) northernmost settlements on the island group of Svalbard (this is far-far to the north..) gets continious sun from 19 April to 23 August. Up there you can, atleast early in the season, see the midnight sun over a winter landscape. When going this far north you migth as well come to "my" city of Tromsø, the biggest city of Northern Norway, and the easiest accesible by aeroplane. Here the midnight sun season should last for a couple of months in the middle of the summer. PS: I suspect you and/or your mother might have the Polar Lights and the Midnight Sun facts mixed up. So check this out to drop some science the next time you discuss it ;): Northern Lights @ Wikipedia Midnight Sun @ Wikipedia Hit me up @ campuscandy [at] gmail.com if you need more info or help :) |
you should see my gaping ass :thumbsup

Golfing and relaxing in the Algarve, Portugal
|
Paris for the Moulin Rouge and the hookers of St. Denis. Eiffel Tower and Norte Dame are nice. Drinking coffee, wine, then more coffee on the Left Bank is a once in a lifetime experience.
Spend a couple of hundred gambling in Monte Carlo, see the topless beach at St. Tropez, and enjoy a seafood dinner in Cannes. Visit the sex clubs in Berlin, eat at the fine-cusine restaurant that is totally dark and all the waiters are blind, and walk the Berlin Wall. Stroll up the Rambla in Barcelona, check the Naval Museum, and be wowed by the Gaudi designed architecture. Amsterdam, go to an antique auction and see stuff that is really old. Drink beer with the Dutch in a pub, eat falafels in pita sandwiches stuffed with all the extras. Check the Heinikein Brewery tour and the Museum next door. Good Stuff. |
This is awesome I can't wait! Will contact you all later on!
|
High Tatras and Slovak Paradise in Slovakia. You can thank me later :thumbsup

I wouldnt bother with Ireland for this one. Spend your money on something else. You can do wonderful weekends in Dublin and Ryan Air flights make it incredibly cheap. I know people who do that really often.
If I was going traveling, Id go to places that would be more difficult as its something different. |
i won't tell you because it will get too popular&commercial
:) |
the coast of Croatia, very beautiful, there is also one of the two coliseums that the Romans built out side of Italy. been to Croatia 4 or 5 times, was never let down.
Barcelona, another one of my all time favorites. the bars are great, nice old city to wonder around in also. lots of history as well. be sure to check out sagrada la familia and park guell, both mentioned above, and probably spelt wrong by me :) Ireland is a fantastic place as well... those hexagonal things you want to see are in the north i believe, and its called the giants causeway. iv never been there, i saw the southern half of ireland during my time there. hungry is another of my favorites, budapest is a gorgeous city and there is lots to see and do. be sure to hike up to the citadel and enjoy the views then walk on over to the royal palace and old cathedral on castle hill next to it. and check out one of the cities around balaton while there is a festival. there are lots of cities and one or more is throwing a festival almost every weekend it seems, lots of parties, fun time. lots of funny lookin muscle head hungarian dudes with no necks too, its worth a laugh. just dont accept help from anyone at a train station in just about all of europe, lots of pick pockets and scammers hangin around those places. |
When you go to Norway and up north, make sure you visit LOFOTEN. It is wild and beautiful. When cruising without your mom, make sure you visit Oslo to see the wild and beautiful Norwegian women.
If you go south in Norway make sure to visit SKJÆRGÅRDEN around Arendal and Kristiansand - it is stunning. Go by boat. Ill be there in July and August. Bring cash - its damn expensive. |
If you can - visit Brussels, I was there for a day and fell in love with it. I'm dying to go back.
|
Nice. I should love this trip.
|
Quick bump for the buzz
|
I can suggest you some more:
Copenhagen and especially the summer bar street called Nyhavn is great, our Danish girls are very nice :thumbsup Go to Switzerland, Austria and the Bavarian part of Germany, then you will be visiting the Alps, rent a convertible and drive those sensational beautiful roads in the mountains or just take a trek. Rome is my favorite city in Europe, but it can be very hot in the summertime - but there are so many things to see. The Spanish city of Barcelona is also very great. If you are up to just relaxing and enjoying yourself at the beach some of the Greek Islands are great. |
Europe is a bit wide term...
What part of the Europe did you plan to visit? |
Here's my input:
Austria is beautiful....Salsburg (sp?) was great ...Germany has great beer ..duh! In Italy in addition to Venice you have to go to Rome and tour St Peter's. I'm not Catholic...but man...it was awesome in every sense of the word. It totally takes your breath away. Go to Florence to shop and go to Pisa just so you can take that picture of yourself pretending to hold the tower up. Head to Nice in France to party and hit the beaches Lisbon is also beautiful and fun! Enjoy yourself!:2 cents: |
Greek islands sounds like a good idea
|
geneva http://images.google.com/images?q=geneva
lausanne http://images.google.com/images?q=lausanne in swiss, and of course monaco! :thumbsup |

wag wan brother
|
there is just so much to see, it would be much easier to visit one country and get a feel of the culture, food, history etc. How long are you planning to stay in Europe?
|
He bumped an old thread....from February, 2009
Scottybuzz, tell us about your trip. What did you see and do? |
Definitely check out the vineyards in Tuscany! If you want to get off the beaten path, take the train from Florence to a small beach town called Castiglioncello -- it's a sleepy place with gorgeous beaches and wonderful food (and not an American within miles). I also love Campo di Fiore in Rome...
If you're going to be in the UK, hit up Spitalfields Market in London on a Sunday, and also trek over to the ICA to see what cool stuff is going on there. Spitalfields isn't what it once was -- kind of gentrified now -- but still awesome. Borough Market is also chocked full of gorgeous stuff. Kew Gardens and the Richmond Green in general are also lovely. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!! |
