UUGallery vs Arylia vs GalleryDaemon vs Arles?
If you'd like to add galleries to a WordPress blog, so that they match the look and feel of the site, and thumbs lead to HTML or PHP pages and not full JPEGs, and the whole thing can be an RSS feed, which is the best script for this?
|
I have been wondering this myself. It seems UUGallery is targeted at WP and that the others would require more modifications, thus meaning more work. So I guess it depends on how much time you want to spend on it? I am starting with UUGallery on my next project.
|
Well if you want the post pages to be galleries the only option is uugallery. The other two are both nice and have more options, but they will make their own pages and not be incorporated into the post like uugallery does.

I can't seem to get the uugallery demo to make a correct post for me. I'm not coder, but I'm usually techy enough to get this sort of thing to work fine. |
Take a look at VivaThumbs and maybe it'll do what you're looking to do a lot easier and automatically. I'm not sure if it will or not. Doesn't the newer Wordpress versions have built-in gallery functions too?

The author of uugallery, Chariot is very helpful on icq, in email and whatnot.

If you are adding to a wordpress blog, I would use uugallery since its integrated right into wordpress. Gallery Daemon and Arylia are built for making galleries outside of the program, either for submitting or posting on your own site. Although you could always make galleries, and link to them from a large thumb in a post. For cheap people (not saying your cheap) the free solution would be to use robogallery plugin which a lot of celeb sites use. You could hack up the template to use a custom field for a sponsor which ever you are promoting at the time of the gallery creation. |

I'm surely willing to pay more to get more. What are the pluses of uugallery vs. robogallery? Thanks :) |
Any more thoughts on this?
|
There's no question UUGallery is the best for Wordpress specific gallery building.
I don't get my cut from the sales anymore though, so that concludes my sales pitch... |
UUGallery for sure, especially for what you're wanting to do. Arylia and gallerydaemon are overpriced as hell for what they do. I use Arles and am pretty happy with it.
|
I'm using UU Gallery on my next blog project. They have answered all my questions very quickly. So thats my .02
|
I just tried robogallery and it's pretty easy to use
|
UUgallery is great for wordpress blogs. Otherwise I like Arylia. Arles is a pretty decent cheap solution to gallery building.
|
Is there any way to have a big thumb link to the gallery post in wordpress when using robogallery?
|
Arylia isn't overpriced for what it does, if you require daily galleries $150 isn't anything spread over a few weeks... I've been using it for years, thats what, 2 cents a day? :)
Also blog people, I can sell you copies of Arylia 2 at $49 a copy if you buy 6 or more at a time. Feel free to hit me up with any other Arylia questions |
