Linux Distro's
I am going to use a Linux distro in my laptop and was thinking which one to use?
Ubuntu looks boring to me, although it does work ok (have used it on vmware) PC-BSD looks like it could be a good choice for me Anyone have any other flavours that they can recommend, and why you would recommend them? Thanks |
Stick to Ubuntu for laptops.
Seems to have the best laptop support (sound, suspend/hibernate, battery monitoring, etc etc) |
Definitely go with Ubuntu.

running ubuntu on my laptop and love it....thinking seriously on transitioning my desktop over to it
|
Try Linux Mint, it's based on Ubuntu but looks and feels much more elegant.
|
"boring"?
What do you consider exciting in an operating system? |
Mepis Linux
Debian based, user friendly, helpful friendly user base and it works. :2 cents: |
Cool opinions, I'm looking forward into buying another laptop...and a new operating system
|
I went with the whole Linux Ubuntu thing a few months ago with an extra laptop I had lying around. Stupid programs that I use didn't work so instead of re-loading XP Professional, I re-load with TinyXP Christmas Edition 2008.
My laptop is blazing fast and all the programs I use work. The WINDOWS folder is only 600mb. |
I run Fedora
|
I have Fedora on my laptop for testing purposes and it works good...
