I got a new computer with Vista and it rocks.

I got a new computer a week ago and am still getting used to Vista. But so far it is nice. I like the way it looks and some of the features. So far no problems with it.

The new PC is such a big improvement that I now wonder how I ever got anything done before.

I'm not sure why I was so resistant to changing over.

Sosa 01-11-2009 08:18 PM

No problems with Vista on my desktop either.

Tube Ace 01-11-2009 08:19 PM

enjoy the new found productivity..

Supz 01-11-2009 08:22 PM

Vista has only gotten a bad rap because of the amount of resources it takes up, most 2-3 year old XP systems could not handle the upgrade.

That is what I have read. It seems most of the problems were people with xp upgrading and didn't have enough RAM or processor to handle Vista properly.

I guess you should buy something when you need it, but with Windows 7 right around the corner I wouldn't touch vista anymore

mynameisjim 01-11-2009 08:58 PM

Most of the bad press Vista got came from people with older PCs or from people who had custom PCs built with a bunch of different parts.

If you buy a new PC Vista should work just fine.

TidalWave 01-11-2009 09:00 PM

new O/S coming out soon, you bought it too late

notoldschool 01-11-2009 09:18 PM

I have more than a handfull of PC's and I ordered a new dell with vista for shits and giggles and loved the GUI but loading programs to it was like cutting rubber with a butter knife. I gave the computer to a biz partner for his house. Wait for the new OS, this one is a stinker.

Give it time, you will learn to hate it. IE is always crashing on me

I couldn't really argue with the price. I have a friend that works for Intel and he gets a ton of free stuff. All I had to pay for was memory, the OS and a DVD drive. I also got a new 22 inch LCD monitor when I bought that other stuff. So I got a pretty nice machine for a couple hundred dollars.

I may upgrade to Windows 7 when it comes out if the reviews are good and it seems really stable.

Waramp 01-11-2009 11:16 PM

It will be ok on a desktop, however with a laptop it is a pig. (dual core 1.6ghz wit 2gb ram)
Everything is more difficult. User Account Control is constantly popping up with security allerts, and ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO CLOSE THIS? etc. Its a pain to turn off if you dont know where to look. Windows explorer is sooo cluttered. Configuring a home network is a nightmare if you havent navigated around vista before. Just plain cluttered... waitin for windows 7!

Violetta 01-11-2009 11:38 PM

Im not a big fan...

Here we call that an "Oxymoron"

Like the truck "Dodge Ram" or like the oceanic dweller the "Jumbo Shrimp" or like a "moneymaking GFYer"

tranza 01-12-2009 07:17 AM

Like you said: so far...

stickyfingerz 01-12-2009 07:42 AM

Funny the reasons some give to not like it are simply retarded. Especially on a webmaster board. lol :1orglaugh

And what reasons would those be?

BTW just cause you post here doesnt mean your a webmaster. You are a program owner, not a webmaster. Not even close. :winkwink:

zEn84 01-12-2009 08:29 AM

I don't know why, I just always figured Vista was going to be like the Windows Millennium back in the day. Then xp came out and replaced it pretty quick. I wonder if Windows 7 will be the same story..

That's been my experience as well. I do plan to upgrade to Windows 7 as soon as it is available though.

Vista uses more system resources than XP.
It is less stable and less compatible with existing hardware than XP.
There is NOTHING you can do in Vista that can't be done in XP.
A logical thinker can easily conclude that Vista is an utterly unnecessary "upgrade."

Antonio 01-12-2009 08:37 AM

Windows 7 is much more light no resources, or so they say, never had an appetite for Vista but I;m getting Winodws 7 for sure

"you're"
"YOU'RE"

Your is possessive.
You're is a contraction for you are.

Oh, and the elections are over. move on

I ran xp pro on my current desktop, lots of issues, errors, time spent fixing shit. Vista Ultimate on there now and no issues, no problems. I have plenty of resources and vista doesn't use them all up. I use programs that are some of the most resource intensive, and have no issues. But I could go back to xp, and maybe downgrade hardware to stuff that is old and only works with XP still I guess... lol

Sorry, but bullshit. Plain and simple. I don't know why you're so infatuated with Vista but don't try to bullshit someone who has been working on PCs for a living for many years.

Rofl how is it bullshit if its true for me and MANY MANY others. I have built every desktop computer I've owned since 99. My first computer was a trs80 model III with a tape drive in 1980. I have 3 desktops and 2 laptops all running vista. Im on my computers 18 hours a day. Been working only online since 2005, and did sidework online since 2002. Yet just because you don't like vista I must be full of bullshit. Its comical.

DAMNMAN 01-12-2009 09:12 AM

I'm running a screaming computer I just built running Vista 64bit and it's a fire breathing dragon it's so fast. 16 gigs of RAM (that works in vista 64 not 32) SATA 3 RAID stripe main drives. Renders HD in real time with ease.

Some compatability issues and I can't use Nuendo 3 anymore so I have to upgrade to 4.

I like it.

Nuendo 3 works fine with Vista ultimate 32 bit, so it must be a 64bit thing? What is it doing, like won't install at all or?

I had my MCSE and A+ and worked in a corporate environment. Fixing shit all day was my job. You're what is called an end user. Other than laptops I have never purchased a pre-assembled computer.

I don't dislike Vista. My desktop is running Vista 64. I am just correcting the inaccuracies that you spew in every Mac or Vista related thread.

I started with a TRS-80 too but I don't see how that's relevant to the thread. We're both geeks, that's already pretty evident.

Im just trying to figure out what inaccuracies I spewed. Inaccurate to who? Because I don't make things up. Maybe I am just in the lucky minority that doesn't have any issues with vista and is very happy with it. Probably happiest I've ever been with an OS so far. :)

Wait, that's not entirely true. I own a couple of Macs which I obviously didn't build.

I find it funny the people that are complaining about IE.. There are much better browsers to use.

But IE is made by MICROSOFT! Isn't using IE important to the whole Vista experience? Here I thought you were a good little Microsoft fanboy. Shame on you, Stinky.

Scott McD 01-12-2009 12:20 PM

Been on Vista a year now with no problems! :upsidedow

(so far)

seeandsee 01-12-2009 12:23 PM

vista sucks!

Rochard 01-12-2009 01:02 PM

I've been using Vista on my new computer for the past year. Granted, it's a dual quad processer with more RAM than all of my past machines combined, but it flies with Vista. I love it.
