What moron has a banner that requires me to have Adobe?

There must be a new advertiser because now when I go into threads or come on this board, sometimes, my computer asks me to install adobe...

What idiot sponsor made a banner like that? I can't click it and find out where it goes to.

Oracle Porn 01-12-2009 11:06 AM

Mr. Billy 01-12-2009 12:50 PM

this place makes me laugh... and sometimes cry....

I don't know about HERE (As I've not seen it happen here YET) BUT there is some sort of funky VIRUS that is embedded in ADS that tries to have ACROBAT launch and do SOMETHING, I say something because EVERY TIME I have encountered it I get an error from the program itself saying "this action can not be preformed"

I can tell you the "thing" is running rampant on torrent and tube sites and on a few of the larger "password sites"

I do recall my virus software going off HERE months back but I can not recall what exactly was triggering it.

I've been trying to figure out exactly what the exploit IS and where it is coming from for the past few months, but so far no luck, all I know right now is whatever it is is not working the way it is supposed to work, but it does lock up the box I use to hunt for our content & paysite passes. (a quick CTRL ALT DELETE and killing Acrobat fixes the issue normally though) and from ALL the various scans I've done on the box there is NO signs of ANY kind of infections.

If you dont have the latest adobe installed you should check your system for spyware.

I think you are referring to the spread4u incident

Machete_ 01-12-2009 05:40 PM

http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rea...own_reader.htm

Exelent freetool that saves you both time and headaches

a Patched, updated and correctly configured Windows PC with IE7 is not vulnerable to it.

The problem is the browser add-on's that can make it result in Buffer-overrun, so the browser crashes.

If you find a site that still crashes your PC even when its updated, please send me a email on [email protected] with the URL - because I would like to see it, if they found a new security hole.

ahh, I don't use IE on that box, in fact I think only one of my machines even has IE on it and that's just when I need to check cross-compatibility issues with my designs.

I get the issues with FF (latest build)

And although what you mentioned makes perfect sense, I don't see why that answer would make Acrobat TRY to load and preform some sort of action that just plain doesn't work.

Are you talking about the thing that happened on Yahoo.com a few months back? my coders mentioned that the other day along with the buffer-overrun issues.

For security reasons I wont list the details here (and I dont remember all the details on top of my head), but if you get a Trend-Micro login, its listed in the forums - and some of it is on the MS technet as well

To sum it up very short. Google have developed a Object for shockwave and flash scripts. Using that object they request a nonexisting adobe document to make it leak information about you.

I dont know if that was the error you were reffering to, and that is why I was asking you to send me a link if you saw something like this again, because I spend a lot of time finding a solution to the problem last time, since MS hadent made a fix to it back then. If it have resurfaced in a new wersion, I would really like to see it :)

There was one recently that was delivered via a PDF doc, which would wipe out your whole registry. If you didn't open it then you were safe. Trying to find a link.

Anyone with with a modern (64 bit) operating system.
There is no Flash player for 64 bit Windows or Mac.
There is a beta for 64 bit Linux, but it crashes the browser
sometimes so people tend to turn it on only when they actually need it.

Guess who the morons are now?

Actually, the 32 bit version of IE runs by default on 64 bit windows. You have to purposefully run the 64 bit system if you want to use it. In doing so, you should know the 64 bit system can only run 64 bit activex, and web objects (like flash) - which don't exist yet. Unless you're a moron.

... So, your point was? :1orglaugh
