Photo Size for Memeber's Area
 

would you guys say that a 800x1200 photo for my new member's area is too big? or not big enough? what size would you recommend?

Well, 700 wide or 800 wide is good. Depends on the quality. :)

I run two sizes for every set, 1600x1000 and 800x600

800x1200 is probably the smallest i'd accept, but go bigger if the quality is there...

Depends on the quality of the source content, and if the photos are in sharp perfect focus. The bigger you go you might have to do more retouching/etc for images.

Ours are between 1200-2000 px (longest side) depending on the site.

Thats exactly what we use.

800x1200 is standard these days - anything less and you'd get complaints. lots of members would appreciate bigger sizes - up to you whether you want to provide multiple sizes for images.

For my own members area I offer the gallery in 1024x768, but zip file downloads of that size or the "natural" size that my camera outputs, which is 3000x2000 or so.
