I see people texting wherever I go, so I'd say it's pretty popular. Still probably not where it is in Europe or Asia, but it's getting there.

Hi Bob,

I would be interested in seeing some url's myself. The problem with live chat on mobile has something to do with the mobile devices not being able to handle the flash based content that live webcam feeds provide.

Good question. :thumbsup

we have different kinda chats

text msgs only
video chats through 3G
flash as well on SOME java enabled browsers

but video and flash is barely used, its really expensive its the traffic costs the premium rate so it adds up to at least $5 a min for mainly poor quality

what we have here a lot though (and in DE AT etc too) is text sms, you text a keyword to a premium rate and the sender pays the sending costs and the reply (2 max is legal here) for $1 approx here. Tons of ads on tv in mags etc.

I was wondering if that exist in the US cause buying keywords in EU is easy, Ive never seen any US provider and Im sure it exists although the X rated ads on tv wont be there on HBO I guess.

So any urls are more then welcome.

I know some morons that get the $10 per month flirt messages - but I don't think they are worth it, and most people probably will not keep those running more than a month or two - so the retention is low from what I can tell.

A majority of the regular girls with have nasty conversations with you via sms if you just give them some attention - so why pay for it?

Australia has plenty of them, the kind where you send a single SMS and get placed on a subscription which costs anywhere between $40-$100 a month. (Each regular message they initiate is charged to your phone bill)

For a while the ads were reasonably risque, for free to air TV in Australia anyway (bare boobs, hands wandering vaguely around groin area etc), but there was new legislation passed and they've been toned down now.

There's shitloads more ads for mainstream stuff like ringtones. Some of those 15 year old girls whose phone is like an extra limb must spend a fortune on this crap... and half the time they probably don't even realise they're being scammed.

I don't see a lot of that on TV here in the USA, not the live chat stuff anyways.

What I mostly see is text numbers for ringtones and wallpaper, and in the fine print it states they'll charge you 9 bucks a month each month.
