HorseShit 01-18-2009 06:03 AM

I think you meant "except" not "expect" haha

BTW, Lenovo imo is as good as Toshiba

zabijaq 01-18-2009 06:44 AM

Fujitsu sux, some models have huge problems with USB (broken hub or so) so You can't use mouse, modem, external keyboard.

Best books are original ThinkPads with stickpad as You don't need mouse that much. Stickpad is much better then touchpad.

Worst books are HP as they got terrible drivers and everything is slooooooooow.

Good books are from Asus - new models are well made, and are affordable. But some models have problems with heating (so does some Satellites and other books).

John-ACWM 01-18-2009 07:44 AM

I use an Asus, not very often though and I'm pleased with it

cybermike 01-18-2009 08:02 AM

I thought the thinkpad was suppose to be the gold standard?

StuartD 01-18-2009 08:04 AM

You're judging the intelligence of your fellow species based on the brand of laptop they purchase?

Interesting, I guess.

I am actually going to have to agree with ya on this one... I remember asking a friend (who wanted to buy a lappy) ... what he was going to use his lappy for?... that way I could recommend him a lappy that would work well for him and that would be cheap.... well he said he was going to be surfing the web, sending emails, viewing some photos and doing some word processing....

I was like OK... so I recommended him a lappy that was cheap... pretty good deal for it... and a few months down the road he calls me to tell me his lappy is not working properly....well I ask him WTF was he doing when it started acting up... well he tells me that he didn't know.. all he did was install a "Half life 2" and then tried to edit a video his bro sent him... and then it started getting slow.... :helpme:helpme:helpme:error

WTF!??? ... yeah guys might find this ridiculous but there are lots of people who are just like that ... they say they are going to use a pc for basic stuff and all of the sudden they tell you it didn't work properly when they were trying to take down an alien colony in level 5 of a dam concentration camp ....

baddog 01-18-2009 05:14 PM

I think the carbs have gone to your brain.

brand0n 01-18-2009 05:27 PM

i think the alzheimers is starting to get to yours

Ross 01-18-2009 06:05 PM

On my third Dell laptop (second really, bought my gf one too tho) and had no problems whatsoever with them. Also have 3 dell desktops with no problems.

I often wonder why some people don't like Dell. I can't recommend them highly enough.

They has a bad rep as far as support is concerned. I guess if you have a business account with them you get a different level of service as they seem like they are tripping over each other whenever I have dealt with them lately.

i have called dell at least 3 times for support... never have i gotten a guy that wasnt (to my best assumption) a white guy in the states...

the reason i say warren is because i truly remember the first main time i called them ... his name was warren, from ohio i believe... he was extremely helpful and knew exactly what i seen as I seen it on my desktop on my end... why? because he was a pro...

There was even a moment he said ok this next step will take 15 minutes... now is a perfect time to set the phone down and go take a break, watch some tv or make a sandwich (i was reformatting my HD and making partitions and such)..

I called costco customer service yesterday and i got some girl with a name equivalent to Shaniqua, where from I dont know..but she didnt help me much, just transferred me... although when i was transferred to canon supprt from there - i got a very helpful white dude from california i believe...

I had Charter cable and their support is horrible... Always getting people in india that you can barely understand that are obviously flipping through large spiral folders trying to find answer and obviously not fluent with what they trouble shooting...

this is all totally unracial for those that may deem it fit, its the truth...

tony286 01-18-2009 08:10 PM

the laptop im on is a gateway and Ive had it over 4 yrs.Its operated flawlessly the whole time. Now I have a friend who had a toshiba that was the biggest piece of shit. It spent more time in repair than with her.

Gerco 01-18-2009 08:19 PM

My Macbook Pro still kicks ass.

Seriously, I broke the internal lock on the expresscard slot trying to jam a sprint evdo card in to fast Apple overnight the part and had me up a running the next day... no charge... Fast forward 4 fucking years... (no problems during) I had a flood in my house. Power Brick was on the floor laptop was running and ZAP! took out the brick, the hard drive, some memory etc... The laptops way out of warranty and apple STILL fixed it and gave it back to me. New as the day I bought it! Working on it right now.

................

Dell got some support centers in eastern europe, so quality of stuff is reasonable and they are cheap (comparing to Sedo support, where Iv'e needed about 5 Q/A to explain to support employes that tracking cookie isn't something You can eat :D)
