try not buying domains from sketchy people, that usually works.

have money held in escrow with trusted 3rd party or company.

what is the price range? that is important for the right answer to your question

yeah it's a company we both should trust , and since i dont know the domain owner , it's hard to believe we can find mutual trusted 3rd party , unless you know one that is doing this in general ?

You can always use godaddy.com - I have bought a few domains from there and they are trustworthy

d-null 01-18-2009 04:33 AM

if you guys don't know each other and don't have any board trust or anything like that, you could use an escrow

I haven't tried them but http://escrow.com does domain transfers and the price is around $30 for a $500 domain

d-null 01-18-2009 04:37 AM

the normal procedure if you do kind of trust each other somewhat and the domain value is not too extreme, the buyer generally pays first and then the domain is transferred..... I've done it that way and never had any problems so far, but there are scammers out there so be careful

godaddy will act as a gobetween too, but they delay the transfer for around a month and they don't offer guarantees unless an escrow is involved too (which is mandatory with them at $500 and up I believe)

Looks like escrow.com are fine , thanks for the info .
