AFF affiliate using torrents to get fake sign ups

There's an affiliate using torrents to get fake sign ups. A friend downloaded a torrent that required a zip password and said this was in the ReadMe file:

http://www.host4tor.com/

I am guessing this will actually bother them since it's not just someone else getting their content stolen, but them having to pay for people who are not interested in the site and weren't even fooled by the million girls in their city looking for sex.

Iron Fist 01-19-2009 09:05 AM

If there were a million girls in my city interested in me, i'd start to wonder what's going on.. since there's only 700,000 people here total.

natas 01-19-2009 09:12 AM

I was speaking to someone the other day who got paid by aff to sit there and write fake profiles for them all day long. Quite a funny conversation.

huda 01-19-2009 09:16 AM

Come on guys, every one knows there are millions of girls interested in us. We just chose not to care hooking up with 39 new girls per day in a lifetime of 70 years.

And yeah, a friend of mine got one of those once "16 million girls in your area looking for sex!" and he lived in Scotland, lol

That's common :P but they find the people to do it in mainstream sites, and they are often thinking "why would someone want me to do this?" I once saw a guy who was hiring people to tag videos - give them name, keywords, and pick an username from a list, it hit me later that it was a tube and it was as to make them look like user submissions

Vendot 01-19-2009 09:20 AM

I need to talk to Sagi about another thing like that, anyone got his number?

CIVMatt 01-19-2009 09:26 AM

This has been going on for years

Sosa 01-19-2009 09:32 AM

nothing new...

AnniKN 01-19-2009 09:45 AM

but seriously, they don't mind? Because it's not the usual ads in a torrent site: is telling people to sign up if they want to be able to use the torrent - not real potential customers... I guess it's cheaper to pay the occasional dollar for a free profile than it is to hire someone to make the profiles then :-/

brassmonkey 01-19-2009 09:48 AM

how is it a fake sign up let them make their cash

ICQ 348950862 :: scezana AT ff n Dot com

AnniKN 01-19-2009 10:10 AM

Pfft I knew I'd get bashed :1orglaugh

Dude, I'm not defending my friend here - I'm not saying "uuuh, evil affiliate doing bad things to people who download torrents!!!" I am saying "eeeh, affiliate uses stolen goods to get paid by AFF for people who are not interested in buying a membership" - I thought THAT would matter to AFF? Fuck torrent downloaders really... they deserve all the spam, spyware and fines they can get, yes, even my friend

Also, it wasn't porn, he's not in the industry and no, he doesn't participate in any other kind of fraud - it was a mainstream movie he's ashamed to go see at the theater (a male, alone at a romantic comedy that they translated as "a night of music and love"?) and can't wait to see because he fancies the girl.

He's a DVD collector too and a huge movie fan. He has a membership card to the local cinema, and if for some reason a movie doesn't come down here and he's waiting to watch it: yes, he'll download it, and will buy the dvd as soon as it's available.

He didn't tell me "oh... look at this" he asked me if I knew how to obtain zip passwords because he didn't want to sign up to AFF and I'm "computer savvy". And no, I don't know how to crack passwords of anything, so yes, he'll have to suck up and go to the theater - happy?.

Dude, do you normally give out an ICQ if someone asks for a number.

If a hot lady asks you for your number..... do you give her your ICQ number? :1orglaugh

Im talking phones here.... telecommunications.

Machete_ 01-19-2009 10:13 AM

So its OK because its not porn? or because he is embarrassed to watch it in a cinema?
You do a great job sticking up for your stealing friend at the same time you bash AFF for making money on it.. Can you make up your mind? is stealing or or not?

Cant say I'm sorry Batt's scammed you anymore

collegeboobies 01-19-2009 10:14 AM

There are whole forums dedicated to methods like that.. but not just for AFF, for a lot of things....

You didn't read my whole post. I am saying YES, it's wrong to download torrents, and yes, my friend is an idiot... but yes, he will actually pay for the movie (both in the theater and in DVD). He would not be my friend if he was running cards - pathetic eagerness from someone who actually buys the movie afterwards and whom I've known from years before torrents existed? I can handle. Scammers with ZERO intentions to deliver from the beginning? I can't.

Also - all along I've been saying that AFF is not making money - an AFFILIATE is making money off AFF, with signups that won't convert. That's all.

People come here whenever they find something shady - this was new to me so I come here and post it so people are aware.

seeandsee 01-19-2009 10:36 AM

who cares, i am almost happy , because AFF played all zango tango

AnniKN 01-19-2009 10:45 AM

Yeah, I guess it's just a pile of shit really... AFF, the affiliate and the torrent downloaders so... fuck all of them.

Now I am just getting pointed the finger because I associate with burglars. *sigh*

Reak AGV 01-19-2009 10:47 AM

That's a very old system :)

If someone even admits knowing about the existence of torrent sites, is that suspicious enough to warrant a personal attack in your book?

I guess all your friends are perfect law abiding models of perfection... because if they weren't you'd probably try to stone them to death. :1orglaugh

TeenCat 01-19-2009 11:13 AM

cool so they are paying 130pps for fake signups, let them play their biz and dont promote them. promoting aff is like promoting tubes or torrents, just dont do it :winkwink:

There are points to your replies? I'm sorry, I think you and I will just have to agree to disagree on that one. :thumbsup
