I would say :

Thank you everybody.
And now for the first order of business as president of the united states I am
calling for a cease fire. Not a cease fire in a foreign country, but a cease fire here at home.

I ask that those of you that have the most pride in my presidency demonstrate that
pride by accepting and abiding by the worlds largest gang truce.

Show me what I mean to you and I will show you what you mean to me.
Bring peace to your communities and I will provide the financial incentive
for businesses and corporation to move into your areas and provide jobs
and a future for all.

I hereby call a gang truce throughout the land of America and hereby call on you
to respect my presidency by holding this truce throughout my service as your
president.

I dont think he is that brave but it would be a very special thing.

He would be the only person who could ever have a chance at pulling that off.
And this would probably be the only moment in his life where it might work.

I could see him calling for some sort of peace amongst communities, but not being that specific.

If he were to use the words "gang truce" I could already hear the far right saying the type of president he'll be.. how worried we should be and such ... cough cough.. Faux News cough....

Would like to see him put Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, and Gonzalez, among others, on trial for war crimes - but that's prolly not gonna happen...

The problem is - expectations for him to be a miracle worker are so high...that no matter how much good he does - it'll never be enough to satisfy everyone.

Bush's legacy has left so many aspects of society in ruins - its gonna take generations to repair...no matter how good the future Presidents perform.

I wish the best for Obama, though. I think he's the best man for the job (this from a Canuck).

That would have to come up from the congress.
Obama would only have a role to pardon or not to pardon.

Without the words "gang truce" it has no chance of working.
Gangs will have to feel like Obama is talking directly to them.

I believe he has already said he wasn't going to pursue it and instead look towards the future and change current policy rather than spending the time persecuting/prosecuting the last administration.

Aside from that, I also believe Bush and repubs had legislation passed 2 or 3 years ago that would indemnify them of any wrongdoing or legal proceedings for their conduct.

HAHA the biggest gang of crooks in the world asking for everyone else to lay down their guns.. Funny stuff. I think it's going to be more like bring me your guns and you can get some food.
