Inauguration or Super Bowl?

Which will get higher ratings?

Loki 01-19-2009 10:41 PM

depends, you want to count ALL the various networks running their own Inauguration shows or just one???

Good point. I'm thinking total eyeballs watching it though. Even if it is across many networks, I think the Super Bowl won't be the most watched event for the first time in years.

Super Bowl, cause the Inauguration is on early and not in prime time.

Since the Cardinals are playing in the SB, the ratings could be down...

Inauguration will probably have a much wider world appeal. I don't know if they'll be showing it in schools but I can probably bet a lot will as well as businesses and offices with televisions.

Also, what about online streaming, I dunno about 'legal feeds' of the Bowl, but I know damn well that every news site will be streaming via the net, so need to factor that in as well.

One more thing, since this is also a first ever event it sort of becomes a 'global event' unlike the superbowl, UNLESS you count all the people who watch the bowl JUST for the commercials lol.

The inaugurtion is being watched in every country around the world. Us non Americans are really excited about Obama and America has the worlds attention today. If you count people outside the USA this will probably be the most watched event in history.

Sarah_Jayne 01-20-2009 05:26 AM

Superbowl..though if you figured in the world wide viewing figures who knows because the inauguration isn't happening for hours yet and the BBC news channel is already on near wall to wall coverage with it.
