Anyone interested in grouping up and building a high traffic mainstream network?

If a few dozen of the adult webmasters who are looking to branch out of adult grouped up on creating a non-adult network, it should be fairly easy to become a prominent force in a section of mainstream.

A mixed nsfw/crude sfw/sfw entertainment network should be relatively easy to grow, especially if we send each other traffic, digg/reddit/etc each other's content, etc.

So... anyone interested?

What kind of mainstream niche?Videos or something else?

Several overlapping niches.

Since the starting point for most would be porn, the easiest step to take first would be NSFW entertainment - since that can be fed with existing porn traffic.

That means a number of quality shock/humor/babe blogs, a mixed nsfw/sfw social bookmarking site, a non-porn nsfw tube site, one or two message/image boards, several prank sites, etc.

The sfw content could be promoted through manipulation of other social bookmarking and networking sites, to gain outside traffic.

With a network like that up and running, it would be relatively easy to create and feed sfw sites on the fringes of the network.

Sure, sounds good.

uno 01-20-2009 05:10 AM

Where do you propose you get the content?

Libertine 01-20-2009 05:16 AM

One of the main benefits, by the way, is that it should allow specific sites in the network to gain momentum.

For example, there isn't a good nsfw social bookmarking site around right now. A single webmaster without shitloads of traffic starting one, however, wouldn't work - there wouldn't be enough users and sites using it to create sufficient momentum.

If a single person in the network started one, however, the others could help feed it. In exchange, they'd profit from things like preferred submitter status - which would be extremely valuable once the site grew large enough.

The same goes for things like a non-porn nsfw tube, most image/message boards, etc.

For the people in the network doing smaller projects (blogs, prank sites, etc), the cooperation would mean far faster growth, and prospects of profiting from the growth of others.

A significant portion of the content would have to come from those within the network. That is to say, us. Quality blog posts and such would be essential, as would semi-original content like tests, captioned pictures, etc. Also, knowledge of the adult industry would help in getting content - an adult webmaster knows where he can legally get content for his weekly "hottest babes of the week" post, and how to use it to make some sales.

im up for it, lets talk.

Libertine you have posted some good ideas and methods. Are you going to start collecting contact info or what? Some means of organization and communication are needed.

There still need to be a lot more interested people.

Once I know there is sufficient interest, we can set up a site with a private board.

If there's not enough interest, there's no point in doing this. The idea is to generate the critical mass needed for forced virality*, not just to trade some traffic.

* The internet is all about virality, now more than ever. However, to get virals started, a certain amount of traffic and links is needed. If nobody sees it, nobody will send it on, nobody will vote for it on social bookmarking sites, etc. A network of people working together could kickstart projects, making sure they have sufficient momentum to get spread out over the internet.

alias 01-20-2009 06:09 AM

We must embrace virality, for it is a delicate organism.

gideongallery 01-20-2009 06:16 AM

i would be interested in linking some of my mainstream sites into such a network.

my torrent recorder project could benefit from this.

I might have other things that could fit, but i would have to rework them to fit into the context you defined.

Libertine 01-20-2009 06:25 AM

I'm off to watch a movie.

Anyone who's interested in this, leave a note. If there appears to be enough interest, I'll set something up.

HorseShit 01-20-2009 06:54 AM

I'm always interested in partnering up with people I like. I have resources, knowledge, money, you name it to bring to the table.

Egomancer 01-20-2009 07:37 AM

OK,

I have a network of like 20 anime sites that I can promote/link into this, if it fits into the schema...

candyflip 01-20-2009 07:37 AM

I've got some stuff I'm working on that might fit already. Count me in.

JamesK 01-20-2009 08:32 AM

I'm interested. Not sure if I have the time/motivation for this, but if you give me some details I will definitely consider it.

I think we should have enough to get this idea a bit to the next level right?

Not quite yet, but it appears that there might be enough interest. In a few hours, I'll create a thread explaining the idea in greater detail, and set up a site for it.

Nicky 01-20-2009 10:45 AM

I'd be interested in this, don't have much "mainstream" stuff going at the moment except a couple of humor and celeb blogs

Redmanthatcould 01-20-2009 10:50 AM

I'm very interested. I run a mainstream review site, and have started to develop several smaller feeder sites.

Would love to get on this project.

DannysReviews|com 01-20-2009 11:09 AM

I would also like to get involved if possible. As long as everyone is treated the same and we all contribute an equal amount, I'm game.

boudoir 01-20-2009 11:10 AM

I have experience in the worlds of news and technology.

DannysReviews|com 01-20-2009 11:12 AM

Also, how are weighing in contributions and dedication? Will everyone be on the same page, will people who work hard make the same as the next hard worker? I guess what I'm asking is everyone starting out equally and hopefully ending the same - nice and rich ;)?

uncjordan 01-20-2009 11:55 AM

I'm interested, send me over some details. Thanks

DannysReviews|com 01-20-2009 12:21 PM

Bump for interest.

pornguy 01-20-2009 12:30 PM

Just FYI - NSFW Subreddit has 15,000 subscribers.

mrkris 01-20-2009 12:37 PM

I'm game, contact info in sig.

V_RocKs 01-20-2009 12:40 PM

Perhaps if you put something in the network you use your own codes.. ie you add in a POTD script, some sites have your codes. Some have the actual owners codes...?

INever 01-20-2009 12:43 PM

I have a mainstream site in the works. [email protected]

I said "good". That place is awful, even if it does have a decent amount of subscribers :2 cents:

sexpress 01-20-2009 04:38 PM

I'm interested! I have a PR 2 nn-bikini blog, nn-bikini mini seo sites etc...

Agent 488 01-20-2009 04:45 PM

possibly.

adulttemps 01-20-2009 05:21 PM

I could contribute something to this.
