Is Starting an Affiliate Program Worth It
We do not post very often but do view the board every day, lately there have been quite a few threads on Affiliate programmes, we have been toying for 5 years whether to launch an affiliate programe or not. Our sites do very well and retain great, we have one member that has retained from day 1 and many others that have been with us within the first year, we went through the Ibill shit and lost a ton, regrouped and survived, got many members who had originally signed up via Ibill to rejoin, many of those are still members. We do update twice a week and do Live shows on Camz where we are regularly voted into the top 10 performers of the month, we have live members cams when we are on and do live shows with PrivateCamZ and a couple of other place. Whenever live shows are on so are members cams, we also broadcast on House Camz so members get to see a lot every day as well as chat.
Is an affiliate programe worth it for us and would our site be one affiliates would promote? Everyone who performs with Danielle in a video or picture set is 100% amateur and will not be found performing with anyone else..... Please le us know if you think our site would benifit from an affiliate programe and what could be the pitfalls if we do. We presently have well over 100 hosted picture galleries as well as 35 video galleries set up. We do personally submit galleries pretty much daily and by luck and with much appreciation get listed on The Hun a couple times or more a month. We have not submitted our site to any review sites yet and believe we are pretty much a very unsaturated entety so far. Our site does well and we make a good living off it, just toying with the idea of an affilaite programe again the same as we have done so for the last 5 years except now that we are actually feeling the water so to speak, this is not saying that we will launch a programe next month or so, we have wanted to launch one for 5 years but now am genuinely looking at the interest it may get along with any ideas and feedback. Any advice on this matter is greatly appreciated. Our main site is daniellesparlour and our would be affiliate programe is parlourcash Many Thanks Karl and Danielle |
With the right affiliates, absolutely.
But you need to filter out the crap right off the hop. Do not allow anyone to just join the program. Hand approve those webmasters who can prove they have a valid site they will be promoting you on. Allow promo passes only after they've sent an actual join. Don't do anything unless they sent a join (banners, fansigns, etc etc.) You'll find the majority of webmasters who can and will send traffic and joins will be low maintenance. For instance i've sent a program thousands of dollars in referrals over the last 2-3 years, and only ask the owner for a pass once a long time ago. Everything else I can do myself. |
I like to dress up in women's clothing, and run around shopping malls... Exposing myself inappropriately to minors...

LOL ThatGuy.. you lost me there...lol

no, it is not worth it, you will be closed within a year, probably more like 6 months
|
do it privately so you can choose who to work with

So many variables and options only a person with detailed statistics and knowledge about your site could make the decision. Though if you want a broad answer, consider how many BIG sites have affiliate programs vs how many don't and then you'll see why they work.
OR you could consider costs vs rewards and it's still easy to see that a simple affiliate program costs very little to implement and the rewards vastly outweigh costs. |
yes absolutely! it's well worth a shot atleast. and like sharphead said, with the right affiliates you will make a killing :thumbsup

It's not what it once was. Even established programs are having to restructure and find new ways to keep sales up.
I'm not saying that you shouldn't do it, it does have it's benefits (such as traffic that you don't have yourself) but you can't do this the way it's been done in the past. To put up some galleries, banners and zip files just isn't enough anymore. You need to be giving it a lot of attention to make your program desirable to affiilates over other programs. |

Thanks for the replies, at least we are getting a deeper idea of what could work. We have thought about it for a while but just never went that final step. We did think about a selective programe in the past but then who to invite, the vetting mentioned earlier is one way of doing it.
At least this gives us an idea. Many Thanks so far. |
I guess it will include a lot more work, but if you get some good affiliates, it will be worth it! Since you have exclutive sites, the chances are higher getting some good affiliates and members!
|
Thanks StuartD, what else do you suggest to include, we are open to all ideas. If we started one we would be comitted to it 100% and would work on improving it all the time to accomodate affiiates. We know our site gets members and retains well with the small amount of exposure it gets, we just want to eliminate as many mistakes if we do go into an affiliate programe as it would be new ground for us. We would have a full time affiliate manager and along with us would hopefully be able to cater to affiliates on a near 24/7 basis.
