US Air sends 5K to each passenger involved in the crash.
This was pretty fast on their part, each passenger also gets reimbursed for the fare:thumbsup

$5k for most of them is a good deal

i bet if they take the money they cant sue, thats gotta be part of the deal.
|
i'd love to say good show on part of the airline, but that is bullshit. it is a sue happy world, and all that is happening is that they are throwing some quick settlement money out there in hopes of avoiding any real lawsuits.
|
$50,000 and I'm good. I need a few months off and a vacation after having to walk on water....
|
they have insurance which covers them for much more than that, but i am not sure if they could prove any injuries, perhaps mental pain and agony type stuff.. but i am sure a lot of the PAX will take the 5k.
|
$5000 isn't enough for some, since they might have had jewelry and expensive clothes. Plus the time and effort required to re buy everything.
Atleast it is something though. |

Well of course. They're not just throwing money off a roof top. |
nice of them

if you read the article it sounds like the cash is for replacing property that was on the place since they cant get it back for quite some time
|
:thumbsup
|
If you fly US Air you don't have $5K worth of clothes and jewelry on.

IMO suing McDonalds for $1M because the coffee was too hot is pathetic but I don't see anything wrong in asking for more than $5k for being involved in a plane crash :2 cents: |
Quote:
I wonder by law if they approve the 5k and cash the check if they can sue for more money as well. |
they should thow in free airfare for life and some hookers

many people will take the cash over waiting months for a lawsuit i bet |
How many of you would agree to be on a plane that crashes into a river for $5,000?
|
That wont stop the coming lawsuits, since the plane was involved in an incident 2 days before the crash.
|
wow a an experience of a lifetime + tv exposure and 5000 bucks good deal... wish i was on that flight

A flock of birds hits the plane and knocks it out. US Air had one helluva pilot on that plane who landed it and made sure everyone was out before he got out of there. If I was a passenger on that plane I would be happy just to be reimbursed for any expenses I incurred including lost items. I just don't get why some people in this country cannot be ok without pointing fingers and making other people accountable for things out of their control or that are just simply, no fault accidents.

Pretty sure there's a disclosure when you fly about birds and shit, not really the airlines fault so suing them seems stupid.
|
Anyone of them can file for being traumatised and get millions.
|
If the CEO of US Air gave his compensation package to the 300 or so people on that flight they'd each get $18,000.
The CEO made $5.6 million in stock and compensation in 2006 alone!! http://www.usatoday.com/travel/fligh...-ceo-pay_x.htm |

I don't understand your reasoning on any level at all....:disgust .. |
They got their checks fast because all eyes are watching. 5k per person well spent.
|
I was watching some news coverage and there was this one black
dude they kept looping over and over again he was happy as hell dancing and in total good mood right after they got rescued .... |
Quote:
great move on their part though. :thumbsup also if they did sue and it went to trial, what jury would find the airlines liable |
Yeah, take the money, count your blessings and kiss your green toothbrush goodbye. ;)
|
Pretty cool move. :2 cents:

what a fucked up society. they don't deserve a penny but it's a nice gesture by the airline. unless information comes out that the airline or pilot was negligent and responsible for the accident they should be happy and grateful to the pilot that they're alive. i'd take the 5K but the thought of suing wouldn't enter my mind - and i wouldn't let a slimebag lawyer put it into my mind - unless he showed me evidence the airline/pilot put my life in danger and put me through that scary shit because of their negligence.
obama talks about change and people taking responsibility - start with the ABA and tear apart the legal system. too many fucking lawyers not adding anything to society, parasites, worse than an adult webmaster that's for sure. at least we produce something. |

Just what I was thinking, too. It wasn't the airline's fault the plane flew into a flock of birds. The passengers should thank their lucky stars they had a great pilot who pulled off a heroic water landing. Sure, reimburse them for their lost possessions and airfare - maybe throw in a little extra as a goodwill gesture. I think $5k each was generous on the part of the airline...given the circumstances. Only assholes would pursue an additional lawsuit. |
most of those will handle those $5k to the lawyer...
and sue the air company with that money... |

Take it as getting paid ride of a lifetime and getting paid for it. |
my shoes cost more than that
