Does Tampa, or clearwater suck?

I've lived in Minnesota my whole life, and utterly cannot take it anymore. I am down in Tampa for a health issue, and when I leave I'm planning on renting a place
immediately.

I'm so tired of Minnesota even if Tampa isnt that great it would be 10x better than Minnesota.

If I try to put a way cooler place like SANDIEGO or LA or miami, manhattan, sanfrancisco, seattle, vancouver, but by the time I find one I might be stuck back in Minnesota.

Minnesota sucks you in everytime you fly back there.

What is the best part of tampa if there is one? Tampa looks like of boring, but I doubt its worse than minneapolis.

HorseShit 01-21-2009 05:03 PM

Tampa is a nice area and there's webmasters around those parts

Minnesota not so much

Barefootsies 01-21-2009 05:06 PM

When you get to Tampa, move into a place next to Jim Gunn.

I hear there are a lot of ladies coming and going. :winkwink:

Tampa has a decent night life. It's not LA, Chicago or NY. But there's things going on most nights.

I love the temperature here, that's what makes it all worth it. For the first time since I moved down here last summer I turned on the heat this week.

fusionx 01-21-2009 05:27 PM

I loved living in Clearwater/St. Pete. Nice beaches, good partying, the cities are reasonably well maintained, relatively low crime rate, etc.. great weather, of course.

Dirty D 01-21-2009 05:28 PM

Yeah it has been chilly this last week.

Tampa has more nightlife than Clearwater or St.Pete.
There is a good mix of music, food, beaches and debauchery...

It is definitely better than Minnesota, unless you are an eskimo

MRock 01-21-2009 05:29 PM

What exactly are you looking for in Tampa? Been here since 1980. Ybor, Channelside are the main night spots. Close to the beach. International airport. I really like it. :thumbsup

I lived in Crystal river, north of clearwater for over a year.
It was the only place i enjoyed in the US. Bloody love that place and the relaxed people.

The westcoast of Florida is so much nicer if you ask me

Good thread. Ive been thinking of moving south myself. Getting tired of the cold winters.

justinsain 01-21-2009 05:38 PM

Lot's of stuff to do in the Tampa area.

Bush Gardens
Strip Clubs
Beaches
Pro Baseball
Pro Football
Hard Rock Casino
Concert Venues
Clearwater
Ybor City
Close to Disney

Nice weather

Certainly would be a step in the right direction

joshuawk 01-21-2009 05:48 PM

thanks for all the great responses.

I know mayor from porn city moved down here from minnesota a few years ago and told me he would never go back to minnesota.

pompano beach is where all the domainers live over on the east coast.

Why go for the Redneck Riviera, when you could live in California (the land of porn and hi-tech)?

And joshuawk for the record.....this would be the = to Minnesota's below zero.

This area is great. If you like hot women, you will never, ever leave. Might as well ask your friends to pack your shit and put it on a truck for you.

I have lived in the area most of my life and I loved it. Florida is going to shit fast. There are better places to live that are much cheaper but I cant seem to escape.

mikesinner 01-21-2009 09:20 PM

I hear there are lots of cumdumpster whores in Tampa

MandyBlake 01-21-2009 09:21 PM

I know a shooter from Tampa, moved to Miami because he thought there where more hot women there...ended up back in Tampa six mo later.

Tampa is the spot!

MalloyEPC 07-08-2009 03:15 AM

Minnesota has Prairie Home Companion, but if you listen to NPR, you could get it nationally... plus Fargo was a great movie.... just playing Devil's Advocate.... but Tampa is great for traveling models *myself included* and you have Fetish Con each year which brings in a ton of talent... :D

CIVMatt 07-08-2009 05:58 AM

Tampa is great, easy access to everything

Pleasurepays 07-08-2009 06:10 AM

"Clearwater" sucks unless you are white trash or a Scientologist. Clearwater Beach is awesome which is an island that is part of the City of Clearwater

Tampa is nice. I love it here.

I think it's time we get a Tampa get-together.. together

rayadp05 07-08-2009 07:03 AM

I moved out here to Tampa around 5 years ago from Los Angeles and Tampa is not a bad place at all. I liked Los Angeles better (except for the overpriced real estate) but Tampa is cool. Been to Miami too. Lots of things to do in both places. The only thing that I do not like about Tampa (and the south in general) is the weather. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the sunshine but I hate the humidity. Be prepared to get very hot and sticky if you move out this way. As long as you can deal with that, Tampa is not a bad place.

Slutboat 07-08-2009 07:11 AM

Hey plate tectonics! Hurry the fuck up and take florida!

To add to that list...

Guavaween parade
Gasparilla parade
Improv Comedy club
Adventure Island
Easy drive to Orlando or Daytona

and to top it all off, in the 7 years that I have lived here we have not seen any substantial damage from hurricanes. LMAO - I shouldn't talk to soon though seems we are in hurricane season. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

I <3 Tampa

Minnesota, I can almost smell the air, the glimmer of water, the sound of the loon, the smell of the pines.

Ahh love rural Minnesota. High today of 80 and sunny.
Low humidity. Best place to be May thru October.
And Nov to April you work on your sites. Perfect.

Beautiful people, progressive thinking, low crime. Virtually no bugs, except a few ants might get in in the summer and a couple lady bugs as well in the fall.
And of course the mosquito but all you need is a can of cutters repellent. Thats not too bad.

It's not the place for twenty year old young lions but for us old farts it's peaceful and a great place to be. :)

If anything I would go north to Canada. Just can't stand heat. We hit 90 once so far this summer but heat never lasts more than 3 days as the weather is always changing. After a little "hot spell" from the south winds, I'm always glad to feel the beautiful NW wind from Canada.

But hey enjoy and travel. My brother lives in Tampa and I been there. Beautiful place and beautiful people too. :)

But someone has to stand up for MN. :)

Yah, sure, you betcha.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 07-08-2009 11:08 AM

You could always go out to the movies with Dirty D... :winkwink:

Not the best place to raise kids, but there's a lot to do and tons and tons of slutty hot chicks.

spazlabz 07-09-2009 08:45 AM

I lived in Clearwater the year that had 4 hurricanes circling the place.... moved out and much more relaxed now :D
