Drive thru banks

I made a post in another thread regarding banks... and it got me thinking, do you have drive-thru banks in your area?

I dont even get out of the car to deposit checks anymore lol the music dont stop, and i dont even turn it down lol just drop the checks in the little air shuttle thing and zip it flies into the bank and teller waves to me lol

In Cali though, never seen a single one when i lived there, but here in new orleans, drive thru banking is the norm... you?

HorseShit 01-23-2009 11:56 AM

pretty sure it's common through out the US

well, i use multiple banks, but one of them doesnt have a "walk in" place at the location i go to. Its just 5 lanes of drive thru, its very fast and i havent had any error yet, i just check the desposit and all is good i drive off. the last lane is atm only, second lane to last is atm + teller.

Id have to drive further to go to the branch with walk in and i prefer to just zip on over and deposit drive thru...

again, i know they have them in many places, but i havent seen them everywhere, maybe by now theyve spread further.

Drive-through. And if your bank is messing up that much to require you going in I'd fucking get a different bank!

Sly 01-23-2009 12:21 PM

Yes, I do... funny you mention it because I always noticed that in California too.

Drive-through.

while i understand your literal pursuit, both are acceptable in America.

"A drive-through, or drive-thru, is a type of service provided by a business that allows customers to purchase products without leaving their cars."

My bank in IN has drive up tellers, that I have used maybe 3 or 4 times. They have about a 50% error ratio. They are worse than fast food drive ups, IMHO. At least the worst that can happen there is you get lettuce on your burger. I remember going to some drive-up banks in LA and SF when I was a kid.

I make deposits 3-4 times a week, and *knock on wood* have not had a single error... here the tellers SPEAK ENGLISH lol

Vicious_B 01-23-2009 12:27 PM

I have used drive up bank tellers for years and never had a mistake.

i dont see how it really is any different than walking in to be honest.

Either way, some bank teller opens the envelope and reads the desposit slip, types it in, prints receipt and off we go.

no difference than going in.

Even Walmart employees speak English in Indiana.

your right, now that i think about it i dont remember seeing one anywhere when i was in LA.

however, in PA they are at almost every bank. considering most of the people around here are so obese and lazy, i can see why :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

well i wont say it doesnt happen, but as many i know we've never had issues and we deposit a lot of checks like any other webmaster.

crockett 01-23-2009 12:33 PM

I pretty much only deposit money into my bank, so it's always via the drive though. I think the last time I was inside, was when I had to report my debit card number stolen. Which was over a year ago.

likewise, i wouldve bankd with any bank that offered it because i was always frustrated by standing behind people who couldnt speak english having difficulties and often the Bank Manager would ask "just deposits?" and id always "yes" and he waved us in...

Reak AGV 01-23-2009 12:37 PM

Never have seen a drive thru bank in my life, anywhere.

pornguy 01-23-2009 12:41 PM

No they dont have them here. Toooo much temptation for criminals.

martinsc 01-23-2009 12:48 PM

nope, we don't have them here... :(

grumpy 01-23-2009 12:50 PM

the whole check system is a fuckedup system. Its not used in Holland.

seeandsee 01-23-2009 12:52 PM

i should patent that in my country :)

Sosa 01-23-2009 01:08 PM

I usually go through the drive thru here unless I'm depositing a large amount of checks. And they give out big milk bones to the dogs that come through as well so I always take my dog with me and he greats a treat.

notime 01-23-2009 02:34 PM

the Netherlands don't have any
just Mc Drives

JenniDahling 01-23-2009 02:41 PM

Never found any in Cali, just drive up ATM's next to the bank. Here in Tampa they are everywhere and the some of them will give you a dog biscuit if they see your doggy in the car with you.

rowan 01-23-2009 03:34 PM

I live in Australia, I've never seen a drive-thru bank or drive-thru ATM. The only drive-thrus I can think of are fast food joints.

Doctor Feelgood 01-23-2009 04:01 PM

i once went to a drivethru liquor store

BradM 01-23-2009 04:07 PM

Steps for America to become less fat and lazy and kill the environment:
1) Park.
2) Get food or bank inside
3) avoid all drive throughs.

Gone through drive up bars.

Peaches 01-23-2009 05:57 PM

I've never lived anywhere that didn't have a drive through teller. Most of the ones around here - small banks in a little town - have at least 4 places you can drive through. I haven't been inside a bank except to open an account in years. I make withdrawals with no checks or ID and I make large cash deposits - never a problem :)

Drive through liquor stores were quite the hit in FL when I lived there 30+ years ago. You could get bottles, cup of beer or a mixed drink. A lot of drive through stores too - my mother used to get bread and milk several times a week when she didn't feel like going to the grocery store for just 2 items
