is its-caught-on-camera.com better than itscaughtoncamera.com?

I think it looks way better, way easier to read. I think its just as easy to type in I guess.

pr0 01-25-2009 10:26 PM

why not get something shorter like

coc-usa.com

co-camera etc.

no, hyphens will not hurt you at all. i don't give a fuck what anybody says. the g could care less if you have a hyphen in your domain. you're not loosing a whole lot, if any seo value.

also, love up the .orgs...

BV 01-25-2009 10:29 PM

hyphens are bad for remembering for typeins

Rednax 01-25-2009 10:31 PM

I would beg to differ... the hyphens will hurt you at first with the big G. After some time/trust, then you're fine. Thay many hyphens looks spammy though, imo..

itscaughtoncamera.com >>> its-caught-on-camera.com

differ all you want. i would never sway someone against buying a hyphenated domain if it's got the keywords they are looking for. i know plenty of people killing the serps with hyphenated domains, and i've placed hyphenated domains of my own well in google and yahoo. if "caught on camera" is what he's going for he's got a decent enough standing. the only thing i don't like about the domains is the "its". but for all intensive purposes, i don't think he's going to have it any harder with the hyphenated version of the domain he has vs the unhyphenated...

now all the self proclaimed seo geniouses can come here and tell me otherwise. whatever...

edit: the point regarding typeins is entirely valid though. as far as brandability goes, the domain kind of sucks. would make a fine gate/doorway page though.

I will agree with you for Yahoo, but I stand by Google not giving it the love for the first year or so. I'm not saying hyphens can't work, they just are a minor setback at first.

itscaughtoncamera.net/org over its-caught-on-camera.com for seo any day.

not going to argue that with you. there are so many great .org's left out there, and they rank just fine. people just have some odd hate for the .org's. they're like the redheaded stepchild of tld's.....

DWB 01-25-2009 11:07 PM

CaughtOnCamera.com is better. $500

;-)

HandballJim 01-25-2009 11:08 PM

I would promote the one with no hyphens, you can use both though and just have the hyphen domain forward to the non-hyphen website. Someone will never ever remember a domain with 3 hyphens. Put a bookmark link on top of the page if you go with the hyphens.

dial 01-25-2009 11:08 PM

I don't think he means for google, I just think he means in general

hyphens look amateurish IMO, using them for your brand name website is sloppy

Yeah that sounds like a more realistic asking price than $500.
