Guess what Citigroup wants to buy with there $45 billion bailout they got??????//
a nice jet...........
http://www.abcnews.go.com/Business/P...6740011&page=1 Citigroup Inc, which has received $45 billion of capital from the U.S. government, is going through with plans to buy a $50 million jet, but a U.S. senator called the deal absurd and wants the Obama administration to block it. ----- The high-flying execs at Citigroup caved under pressure from President Obama and decided today to abandon plans for a luxurious new $50 million corporate jet from France. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh |
Jetting for the win!
|
that's amazing. glad they put enough pressure on them to stop it.
|
Fuckers are unbelieveable.

You know, its like adding insult to injury. If they had at least purchased from a US manufacturer they would have some sort of 'excuse' claiming economic stimulation or something. But buying from a foreign manufacturer with tax dollars is the height of stupidity.
|
that makes me closer to the top of the waiting list! thx citi for cancelling!
|
Fucking amazing.. The first requirement of giving the bail out money should have been the replacement of ALL top Execs.
They got themselves into needing the money. so.... |
I can't even get angry anymore. It is actually pretty entertaining.
Anyone who didn't see this coming and thinks welfare for corporations is a good idea is a fucking moron. |
Auto Industry: "Oh no they didn't! I had to drive from Detroit to DC in a fucking Prius for some loot! Aww Hell Naw! Girl, Hold My Purse!"
|
What the fuck are these people doing in private jets?
BTW, have you heard about their yearly meeting in Switzerland? Sounds nice..... |
if something like Karma exists the jet will crash
|
well i hate to defend this but here goes, i'll give it a shot.
First the bailout isnt a gift , its a loan they still have to pay it back. Although buying a jet might seem absurd , they stilll have to be competitive when it comes to perks or else they will have no top exec's/no trust/no money. How are they going to get the big boys to work for them if they cant offer use of the company jet like their competitiors. " come work for citigroup , the only bank without a cool jet to fly in " |
Makes me sick.

That is the kind of thinking that has Washington turning the US into a banana republic. Exactly what the asses in congress would say. 50 million is a lot of fucking money. |
Those assholes should be prosecuted.
|
Thats bullshit. Give these guys a fucking break...... the whole world is after them, they deserve some kind of a break.
$50 million is only 1/800th of what they got in bailout money, so they should have a god given RIGHT to splash it around. They should also buy a fucking mansion made out of SOLID gold and some pussy 24/7 for the upper management :1orglaugh. |
That is absurd. WTF do they really need $45 billion for anyway? Instead of congress giving the money to them, they should of used it to pay off consumer debt and mortgages to banks. This country and its stupidity... never dull
|
Obviously they don't need a bailout. If I recall correctly, they ordered the jet a year or so ago and I would think at that time they knew they were in trouble and probably ignored the situation.
All this bailout crap is just that, crap. I think the money this administration is tossing out the window to corporations that are only wasting it on big executive bonuses, Jets, fun getaways for clients and employees, is a crying shame. The money could be better spent by giving dividing it between the the citizens of this country, that would stimulate the economy! Until the spending starts we are not coming out of this downward spiral........ |

I would never do business with them. Shortly after 911 they told me I couldn't bank there due to some of the locations we were accepting wires from...RETARDS!
|
Some of you have such a simple grasp of things it's really not even worth trying to explain.
|
Buy the stock!!! C = Citicorp :thumbsup
Close to 52 week low, saudi prince not selling, they have a lifeline with the federal government, and can offord to buy a 50 million dollar jet. Banking crises, not only caused by the banks but americans who took advantage of this. There is no way you should think about owning a home if your making minimum wage at the supermarket...no fucking common sense. Me and wife who both work decent jobs can barely afford a home in a suburb of NYC, and never mind the taxes. This is why I am doing Adult for a 3rd income to maybe move out of this one bedroom apartment soon. |
hmm is Obama gonna fly coach? i doubt it.. why should private enterprise?
i cant believe how the tone has become in this forum, you all sound like a bunch of communists.. it is private enterprise, just like adult... there are a few adult companies with private jets. we are fukin liberals here, we are all for profit right? besides if they are not allowed to buy jets, guess what? the companies making the jets and the control systems etc have to fire/lay off staff also in the US since many components to jets are produced in good ol USA. the bail out money is a loan, they pay 5% interest. most banks take the money to bolster their asset to risk ratio and just have the money sitting (which is why the structure of the bailout is not working, the idea was to free up money to start the flow of lending again..). |

The first $350 billion TARP money was primarily used to buy preferred stock in those banks, it is entirely a gift. |
