Gotta Love HP Computers

Just bought another HP Pavilion. I own 3 HP's now. Bought my first one in 1998 then another one in 2001. Never had a problem with them. Still have them and still working today. HP computers are definitely made to last. My computers are usually running 24/7 hardly ever turn them off except for updates and what not that require reboot. Never had problems upgrading with HP either. I love my HP's.

You are probably the first person I have heard talk good about them. When I was working doing computer tech work HP was one of the most common pc's that we would replace hardware on. Specifically their shitty little power supplies.

If it's not a Mac product, I only buy HP. Granted I always reformat and install my own OS, as they ALWAYS come loaded with extra crap.

The HP I use for work now is going on 4 years this summer. Runs ALL the time and is still kicking. Still doing backups though, just in case....

I've had my HP laptop for 4 or 5 years and I love it. When I upgrade I will definately get an HP. I have a Compaq Presario for 8 years and it's still kicking.

Using packard bell myself, happy with it. It's part of the HP company chain as far i know :)

I have had problems with some HP's... had to trash 3 of them. But right now I have two that have been going strong since 04 and 06. My Dell on the other hand is shit, crashes constantly and I had to take it back to factory specs after like 3 months.

I bought one a few years ago and I took it back with in 2 days, the CD player did not work. My mom had a laptop that had to be replaced as well. Not a computer I think is durable or built well.

Broken VAIO, Broken Gateway Tablet, Broken Toshiba - the HP lives on!

My husabnd had an HP laptop that did really well for about 2.5 years. Then one day the plug in the back for the power seperated from the Motherboard. From then on it was all down hill.

HP uses horrible hardware. Seriously, open up your system prefs and paste the hardware IDs into this thread. Willing to bet they're all low quality generic shit brands with poor specs.

Even the CPUs. They'll use the worst cores Intel makes.

laptop wise i am very satisfied with hp.. when all others fucked up my hp is still running strong

ztik 01-28-2009 11:43 AM

I buy HP laptops only. Amazing quality. I'll have the thing on 24/7 for years and years with no problems at all.

My HP laptop is ~3yo and works flawlessly all this time...
It's (ab)used by my GF last two years... I even never reinstalled the Windows... the one installed by HP is working from day one... I even put a Fedora Core Linux on it for some software testing purposes...

BUT

a friend of mine has very similar HP (same model but minor difference in processor), bought couple of weeks later, and he has nothing but troubles with it...

So it's a bit if it works it works well, if it doesn't it's nothing but trouble...
so just return it and cry for your money back and buy a new one...

Years ago we bought an HP Pavilion from FutureShop (our first outta-the-box system...our previous PCs were custom-built at local shops).

At the time the FS salesguy told us it had a 4gB harddrive. Back in the day that was the typical HD size available.

When we got it home and outta the box - I quickly discovered almost half the harddrive was filled with the HP-modified Windows OS.

As soon as I started stripping junk and various unneeded multimedia modules from the OS, the system crapped out.

We wound up buying a fresh copy of Windows, formating the HP...and putting our own OS on it.

In the two years we owned it, we went through FOUR different M50 monitors - all of them had various problems. Granted, HP replaced them under warranty each time, but the system was laid up during each replacement.

First and last Hewlett-Packie system we ever owned. :(

I don't expect too much from a 17'' widescreen lappy that costs me $599. When I buy one and it runs without issue for 3 years at that price...who the fuck is going to complain?

i love my hp's except fot the power cord. ive gone thru 3 of them in the last 2 years. the part that plugs into the computer seems to always break.

HP is the worst ever (only after Acer) mine lasted 4 months, never again!

Matt 26z 01-28-2009 04:47 PM

Only problem with my HP was the power supply.

The light on the PS started flashing and the computer wouldn't turn on.

Odd thing is, after switching power supplies with another computer both computers work.
