Do you plan to break off from adult this year?
 

I been talkin to a few people and they got plans to cut out of the biz sometime this year.

There seems to be alot of opportunities out there outside adult.
I been thinking about shutting adult down sometime this year myself as most of you can probably guess. I am planning on moving to reneweable energy and in the process of setting a few things up in that sector.

But at any rate do you plan on making a transition?

If so what area ya thinking?

I dropped out in fall of 08 and been slowly cleaning out my adult domains and projects since. It's been the best decision i've made in my online career. Tangible goods CAN NOT BE DOWNLOADED. That fact alone should speak for itself. There ain't no fat girls out there downloading Acai Berry and Wu Yi Tea.....

Wow I agree with you! Media is fucked its just a downward spiral.
It seems adult will never be able to survive as the opportunities to generate ad revenue is pretty limited. But yeah piracy, tubes, and everything thats free, Adult Media is pretty screwed obviously.

In 3 months of mainstream promotion I have almost caught up to 3 YEARS of adult...

First thing you'll learn when you get to mainstream is that no one is going to answer many questions like that. I have dabbled in bizopp, health & beauty, short form & survey, mainstream dating, weightloss, self improvement, educational offers & entertainment among others. I'm mostly working on PPC projects right now. Not gonna go into what is working for me...

yep started in December...still going to do adult but its just not going to take up as much time as it had before

I can honestly say I do not see myself ever leaving adult.

I love making my own content, and I have a solid membership bases and sales. My members and customers love our content, and I love basically making my own toe porn for my pleasure. It's nice that others enjoy and help finance it. :winkwink:

The money is simply too good, and every year I make more. My ratios (sig) do not go down, and business keeps plugging away. I am looking forward to adding in some other adult projects to position us for the future. But I am planning to buy out business partner this year (hopefully) and keep things small. Nice and profitable.

That said, I am investing in some mainstream projects as well. Sure there is money in them, but I am really doing my music stuff more for me. Not thinking so much about the money part. Adult is my own personal bank with which I can fund the fun.

What are you going to setup in renewable energy?

I got into adult in the first place because my real career is executive management. When appointed CEO of a porn company, I went with it. Now i am president of a mainstream firm, but still dabble in adult. It may only be a secondary income stream, but i like the people and the challenge, and I'm a bit of a perv...so it makes sense.

Renewable energy is going to be big in 09. As are other green/organic subjects. Myself I haven't looked into it yet, but I trust that we'll see more CPA offers opening up soon in this area as the interest grows.

Personally I'd start looking into commission based affiliate networks that stock energy efficient electronics, books & programs on off the grid living, and so forth. I'm sure amazon would be a great place to start looking.

I agree there, especially with Obamas recent pledge to cut green house emissions and the whole push towards it, how that will reflect to making money online its yet to be seen but early adopters will make money.

Totally, no...but for the most part I already have moved more towards mainstream.

I'm watching the news and seeing all these companies posting huge losses and massive layoffs. I'm not so sure "mainstream" is going to be all that profitable. I already make more money than any doctor in town, or anybody else that I know in "real life". The only people I personally know that blow me away with revenue generated are other guys in porn. When I'm out and meet guys in retail, or doctors, or lawyers, etc., they're not even close to what we all make in adult. So I'm not sure I could make more in mainstream...I know I failed miserably before at online mainstream back in 2002. With current economic conditions, my fail would only be worse. :(

There's the entire secret; you love doing it and enjoy working on it. Money comes second. So that's why it works for you and on your surfers in the same way :thumbsup :2 cents:

adult is a good place to start with zero knowledge. if you have some basic html skrillz, know what a search engine is, and know what makes you blow a hard load, you can get into adult, install wordpress and go hard. what i've learnt in the passed couple of years has definitely eased the transition. i think people who have been in adult for a long time and make the transition to mainstream will notice a much different attitude amongst their peers. it is far more business oriented, people protect their little trade secrets, and help is not always easy to come by.

now if you "suck" at adult, you're probably not going to come in guns blazing, but selling a digital product that is easily ripped off is not an easy game. if you can make sales in adult at all, you're off to a good start with mainstream. you just gotta learn to adjust the way you look at promoting your product. it is a challenging experience, but a rewarding one. much more rewarding than trying to slang overpriced memberships to shit that can be found free 10,000x over...

i encourage you all to stay in adult, believe me! what works for one, might not for another. the success i'm seeing in mainstream has me very excited so far though. all i can say is that i wish i had 3 years of mainstream promo behind me as opposed to adult right now! :1orglaugh

I dont do anything new in adult, and havent for a long time. What I have running in adult, all runs on autopilot with minimal input from me.

Been doing mainstream projects for a while, and its well worth my time :thumbsup

I started online in mainstream and naturally progressed into adult. For me, things have had a steady build up and I cant complain about the way its happened, the money ive made or the money i've spent. I can only cross my fingers and hope that by following my instincts and reinvesting what I make into what made it for me, i'll come out on top.

AJC said it correcty though. You cant download a tangibe product, and if I found a good solid product that I could push the hell out of you could bet your bottom dollar I would. If in doing that, it got big enough to take "adult" off my plate, no problem. Until then, i'm gonna keep rolling with the punches and look for my next oppertunity, be it adult or mainstream.

Loving all the people in here who think it's impossible for someone to come in and profit from the renewable energy industry with little to no investment. If you can profit from Thai ladyboys, you can profit from renewable energy. Seriously, the closeminded thinking around this forum is what is going to have half of you standing in the soup line in a few years. Congratulations on being the honorable captains your are. It takes some balls to hold on to the last minute and go down with the sinking ship. I for one am getting on the life raft and getting to safety.

Alien, if you do get into some projects, hit me up. I'm looking at getting in soon myself. Just holding out a little longer for the right domain. What would you know, available green living and renewable energy domains are next to fucking nonexistant!

Some people do not get it. Maybe I just do not understand the porn biz and thats why I have failed all these years in trying shit that just was not meant to be, but so far this renewable energy project is working for me.

Over the years I have passed so many opportunities in non adult work when I should not have. Infact if things go the way they currently are in my Non adult stuff I will be leaving sooner than later.

No sense in chasing somthing that was just not meant to be and I am rather tired of it.
