Sponsors Cheating - The quiet style we all ignore
I hate to bring this up
But since no one is saying anything about it.. I will just shoot & hopefully get more ppl aware... We can all continue to ignore it, if we like, but it is a growing trend that is disturbing.. And hopefully some sponsors can explain why they are doing this more, without considering affiliates that dedicate themselves to promotin their companies. so, the newest form of cheating affiliates is the quiet leaks that sponsors are adding to their main tours & join pages. They promote their other sites by writing only text .. ww.theirsitename.com Yeah, they dont link to it.. but most these sponsors list all their sites & its so hard for any surfer to miss. Thats all.. . Goodluck |
I'd worry about the GLARING leaks before anything silly like that. It would be like saying sponsors shouldn't watermark FHG images because it's a "leak". Most sponsors would have your code passed through anyways, so you'd get credit for the sale.
Have had received credit for sales on sites i've never promoted. |
That's going a bit far i think......I mean if it was linked, then sure. But just a mention of the other sites in their portfolio?
I suppose you might lose 3 clicks out of 1,000 views to type-in's. Or some really low #.... This is just another reason to have a good relationship with your sponsor programs. Deal with small programs if you want real "custom" deals worked out....like having some text domains that link to your code listed on the landing pages etc. |
i thought this was going to be about shaving leads...
|
no this isnt about shaving... and i had hate to post join-pages with these leaks.. you will seriously lose more than 3clicks ..
Before it used to be just a mention of the sites.. that was fine. now most are adding the full ww.xxx.com .. if it wasnt a goodleak.. why add it |

In this case, they just need to copy & paste Anyways, im not flaming anyone. I just saw a sponsor that i wanted to promote & seeing that on their join page.. I knew i would lose surfers to the leak. |
Popcorn.

If your freaking that bad and you really think you will loose that many surfers to such text, you have a bigger issue.
I would be way more concerned with "WEBMA$TERS MAKE MONEY CLICK HERE" shit than everything you listed. |

This is nothing new. It sucks but it is nothing new. Of course when it is brought up on the boards it was 'an innocent over sight'...

looked over a few of my main sponsors...bignaturals.com without a aff id has a list of their network sites at the bottom. however with my aff id in the links disappear...thumbs up nd

Thanks for the heads up.

I've seen this before. Very common on network sites in particular. Whenever I've come across it, I've pointed it out to the affiliate program and within a few days the links have been changed to include ref codes. Do the same and you'll be surprised at how prepared sponsors are to help you out.

Just another reason to make your own sites.
