Ridley Scott to produce A-Team Movie

A-Team film gets green light

British director Ridley Scott is set to produce a film version of hit 1980s TV series The A -Team.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Twentieth Century Fox intends to transform the series into a blockbuster summer film and is expected to hit US cinemas in 2010.

According to Ridley, the film will be a "fast-paced, exciting franchise, one we hope will be around for years to come."

The original TV series followed the adventures of a group of Vietnam veterans, Hannibal, Face, Murdock, and B.A. Baracus, who escape from prison and become do-gooder mercenaries.

The movie will be based on the premise of the TV show, although the Middle East is likely to replace Vietnam as the place where the soldiers served.

Stephen J. Cannell and Jules Daley who co-created the television show are on board the project as co-producers with Joe Carnahan directing.

"You can make a film that reflects on the real world without losing the great sense of fun and the velocity of action in a classic summer popcorn film," said Joe.

Wonder if they are going to try to mimic the original cast and get a Mr T like character or totally redesign the look of the team.

Good Question, I think they need to stay as close as possible to the original cast/traits.

I'm really interested to see who they cast as Howlin Mad Murdoch

and Hell, I've seen Mr.T on the Stern show not too long ago, he don't look too bad to reprise his role

I really think that would work the best at least for the old school fans of the franchise, and it would not be that hard to pull off either, have it set in the future (as in our present) and the team has disbanded, but get pulled back together for one last big 'mission'

But knowing hollyweird, they will prolly cast it full of young actors, and have it pre-nam and then maybe nam era :(

ANyone know what hasn't been done to death yet by Hollywood? Anyone have any original ideas for movies or are we just going to keep making movies out of old TV shows?
