Anyone have a good moniker contact?

I would like a Moniker rep to hold my hand through moving all of my godaddy portfolio to Moniker this week.

It's just too much $ involved/great domain real estate to chance it by myself, just relying on a support ticket system & a written guide on transferring.

I need a professional employee to walk me through everything via phone/icq etc.

Who do you suggest I talk to tomorrow to get this going?

Thanks in advance :thumbsup

Also....say i registered xyz.com for 10 years at godaddy. When i move it to Moniker i am back to square one correct? I lost the 10 years of registration & i go back to 1 year at moniker? I'm curious, as I have never transferred a domain to myself before.

Bari is your girl, she helped me move 1000s of domains spanning from 4 registrars. Not an issue with one :)

Ethersync 01-29-2009 08:06 PM

What's the reason for the move if you don't mind me asking?

Don't leave us hanging now...let us know what happened, I have hundreds of domains with Gdaddy. If you can't post on here please email me at: handballjim [at] yahoo

godaddy is not much of discount register anymore if you notice their prices have jumped on .net and .org's.

Basically you could send a false complaint to Godaddy on a porn domain & they will remove it without even basic due-diligence on their part.

If you have your portfolio on godaddy (no matter the size) you are playing roulette with your business.

Almost everyone i know who had a godaddy portfolio moved it to another registrar over the past year. Godaddy has let it be known they are no friend of porn/pharmacy/gambling etc.

Nah, you would keep the years.

"No time is lost! – Your current domain expiration date is extended by one year."

This is what it says on there website. It doesn't say anything about how many years. See how solid they are by holding them to there word! I'm sure it will be all good. Bari is cool.

HandballJim 01-29-2009 08:41 PM

hmmm interesting...I will have to check with my VIP rep. With godaddy on one hosting account, you can have unlimited websites linked to it. Just seemed logical to have your domains and hosting in the same place....but I am only a year in adult.

Having them remove something from your account sounds a little fishy? I might have to search for more horror stories.

DaddyHalbucks 01-29-2009 10:40 PM

Hit up Bari. She'll take good care of you.

Yes, Moniker is the place to be!

:thumbsup

I personally use them for hosting some domains. I haven't had any problems. I wouldn't host with them though. That isn't there game. I wouldn't use my host a registrar either.

pr0 is a sexy beast

st0ned 01-30-2009 04:31 PM

I am about to have Bari help me with the same thing. I continue to hear good things about Moniker and bad things about Go Daddy.

You should not be hosting with Godaddy. Use a real host.

What do you suggest? What hosts let you link unlimited domains to one hosting account?

FreeHugeMovies 01-30-2009 10:15 PM

Anyone who has their domains at godaddy is an idiot. How many horror stories do you have to hear alone on GFY to keep your domains there? I've also heard hosting at likewho is excellent, maybe some of you godaddy customers should try their hosting.

Don't listen to NOTR, he still owes me over $10,000 from 2002.

I'm surprised he even still shows up on GFY.

Most adult hosts would allow you to do that.

You will find a lot of GoDaddy complaints, but that is because they are the largest registrar. Most of these complaints are made by dumbass webmasters anyway.

The one thing you do need to be careful of is sending out newsletters on domains with them. If there is a spam complaint (and it takes multiple complaints, not just one as rumored) you should be able to provide opt-in data. A good webmaster has this stuff anyway, so no big deal.

As for hosting with them, if your ship is sailing smoothly then just let it be. That goes for any host.

This topic has made me lost sleep the last couple of nights, but I will look into other options for the future...but so far so good. Of course if I had a one word sex domain I would protect it at all costs. I do have a moniker account with some names and use them for auctions. Moving all the names would be a huge over haul at this time and would cost thousands of dollars.

I will tell you this if they had removed a domain from my account...the new person who registered it...let's just say I would make him an offer he can't refuse. :winkwink:

Most of our plans have unlimited domains. When you start using shared IP's then we put limits.

There is nothing wrong with GoDaddy as a registrar. I have not heard one substantiated story of them taking anyone's domain. People like to assign blame to others.

brassmonkey 01-31-2009 10:33 AM

godaddy sucks

bobby666 01-31-2009 10:40 AM

Pr0 and st0ned ? I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you/posting. I just returned from a conference in LA. Please hit me up directly if you need me/assistance with the transfers. :winkwink:

Everyone else ? Thanks for the shout outs! :thumbsup
