Odd symptoms when eating....

I keep getting really hot in the face, my chest turns red, and I break out into a sweat and am even sometimes short of breath everytime I eat. Anyone else experience that? It's been going on for months but never before. I don't have diabetes or anything like that to my knowledge. I am having a hard time googling this too...

Signs of extreme asafugus reflux or might be problems of oxygen being pumped to your heart.....do you feel like you hold your breath when eating? of course consult your doctor..

heymatty 02-01-2009 12:49 AM

Menopause

RRRED 02-01-2009 01:09 AM

Yes I do kinda feel like I'm holding my breath. Or I take deep breaths. I didn't realize that till my daughter noticed. I'm in no pain though. And it's not after, it's during.

I'm eating healthy too so it's not cuz I'm eating too spicy or too much carbs etc. I don't get it.

Menopause!! Shit that would be fine with me but why would it happen during eating? It's not severe like I've heard of menopause symptoms though. Plus, I'm only 36. Hmmm...

To everything she eats?
Ya ok.

Look up assorted COPD dissorders. I would start with COPD shortness of breath when eating.

John-ACWM 02-01-2009 06:55 AM

I guess it is the heart. The obvious solution is to go to the doctor. Good luck with it, don't overlook your health

The Heron 02-01-2009 07:07 AM

You're allergic to the fork/spoon! Try a spork

Mr.Right - Banned For Life 02-01-2009 07:14 AM

Because asking on a porn board will solve all your health problems.

Fuck going to the certified doctors.

Brujah 02-01-2009 07:26 AM

There's nothing wrong with asking others or talking about it, whether it's health related or legal related or other. No different than using google to look up symptoms, etc.. WebMD is a pretty popular site and has a symptom checker.

dial 02-01-2009 07:30 AM

I had the same symptoms for a while, turns out it was acid reflux I let go for so long it turned into a peptic ulcer

sometimes it felt like you describe, then sometimes it felt like someone was stabbing me in the stomach

Fletch XXX 02-01-2009 07:31 AM

anxiety/panic

do you drink alcohol? if so that is probably causing it.

The Duck 02-01-2009 07:34 AM

I have no idea but I pray you will be well soon.

Peaches 02-01-2009 09:38 AM

Those were/are the symptoms I get whenever I have a hiatal hernia.

I suspect you're not far off with the heart thing. More precisely blood pressure.

RRRED --
Eating causes an extra taxing of your circulatory system, and causes your heart rate to rise. If you have high blood pressure it can definitely cause the sympoms you're describing, I've seen it in patients many times.

Best advice in this thread is from those saying go see a doctor.

She's way too young for that shit unless maybe she's been chain smoking a carton a day since she's been like twelve.

RRRED, see a doc. It's probably no big deal, but you would be extremely foolish not to make sure.

Go to the doctor - end of story. Never fuck around with your health - get it checked out and good luck.

530media 02-01-2009 11:05 AM

If I got that I would be on the way to the doctor!

RRRED 02-01-2009 01:49 PM

I've smoked since I was 13 actually. I've cut down lately though.

No stomach pain or feeling like indigestion at all. But CDSmith I'm wondering if it's blood pressure which would be insane. I have ALWAYS had borderline LOW blood pressure until I had an infection in my hand which caused blood poisoning and several ER visits this past summer. Then it was really high and it was pretty constant. They said it was due to the pain but I have an incredibly high pain tolerance so I never quite understood how that worked.

But yeah maybe my heart rate is rising when I'm eating if that's what it really does? Weird. I woke up today and cleared my head and meditated quite a while cuz my heart felt like it was swallowing if that makes sense. Reminded me of when I used to have panic attacks but that shouldn't be happening to me again. Grrrr... I guess it's time to have everything checked out again. Lame.

Thanks for the ideas, guys. I still can't believe no ones really had this...?

Coming to GFY isn't the solution.

Actually everyone's heart rate rises at least some when eating. It's normal. But for someone having blood pressure problems it can certainly bring on all the symptoms you're describing.

Maybe no one here has had it but it's fairly common. And if it is your BP, the good news is it's fixable, or at the very least controllable.

Allergy? Please state your concern to your doctor to be sure.

Yup..my first husband would get the same thing and had hiatal hernia. Have you tried rubbing your chest and seeing if that helps at all at the time? When I did that to my husband it would do something that made if feel better. It was almost like burping him when it happened.
