I could be the smartest CEO ever....
If I laid off people when profits were up instead of just down.
Think about it. All these companies lay off thousands of people and all the employees who are left just pick up the slack and the company functions normally. So that must mean most of those people who got let go weren't really needed to begin with, right? So if profits are good, I would just lay off people as if times were bad. Then next quarter the company would have super profits. We'd be lean and mean. Plus, when I laid people off, if say I saved $20 million from letting those people go, I would redistribute $5 million of that to the people I didn't lay off. So everyone would work super hard hoping they could stay on board after each round of lay offs and earn extra money. Survival of the fittest. And this is the best part. When the economy turns bad as it always does, my company will already be set up for it. It's perfect. |
Thats the problem with really big corps, they need to trim the fat.
