I didn't even see the first one. Looks kinda funny.

alexchechs 02-05-2009 09:03 AM

I wouldnt even watch this on bootleg VHS

LAJ 02-05-2009 09:06 AM

While I think Steve Martin and John Cleese are great casting decisions... I just think that remakes on the CLASSIC Pink Panther movies should be filed under "completely unnecessary." No one can touch Peter Sellers.

HORRIBLE MOVIES and I'm sure 2 will not be funny AT ALL either, but I'll be taking the kid to see it I'm sure.

Does that makes sense? Surely it would have to be THE ULTIMATE unmissable super rare film to even consider watching anything on bootleg VHS!

tranza 02-05-2009 02:36 PM

It looks will be funny, maybe I'll watch...

todhunter 02-05-2009 02:39 PM

Who's going to go?

Thousands of people who have no fucking idea who Peter Sellers was.

The people who do know who Peter Sellers was will find something else to watch.

Spunky 02-05-2009 04:56 PM

I think I'll wait for the rental

captain.g 02-05-2009 05:35 PM

No way. I paid to see the first as I thought if it was half as funny as the original than it would be worth it. I loved Steve Martin till then. He is no way as good as Peter Sellers.:2 cents:

True!

have nothing but respect for Steve but he's gained nothing but reveal his level of incompetence when he took the role.

There is only one Clouseau, and its not Steve.

CamTraffic 02-05-2009 06:11 PM

Mais non!

I ll wait for the dvd on that one

PornMD 02-05-2009 06:25 PM

I love Steve Martin and he's hilarious in a number of movies (Roxanne, Planes Trains & Automobiles, and many others), but I don't know if it's the writing or what but the first one wasn't that great and this one looks just as bad if not worse from the previews. There's a fine line between funny and overly loony with those types of movies and the modern pattern seems to be going overly loony.

The last time I was at orthodontist, they had the movie Inspector Gadget playing, which I had never watched, and it looked similarly overly loony and just terrible, and it's sad when the cartoon version is still pretty gimmicky but you don't remember it being nearly that lame.

steve martin is fucking idiot and so is anybody who likes him or goes to watch that fucking god aweful piece of shit excuse for a movie.

I lost a lot of respect for Steve Martin when he agreed to remake a role that should *never* have been remade, the same way I lost a lot of respect for Michael Douglas and Albert Brooks (who I think is a genius) when they agreed to remake "The In-Laws."
I wouldn't watch any remake of Pink Panther movies, any more than I'd watch Adam Sandler in a remake of "Casablanca" (which, given the way Hollywood is remaking anything that they can find, probably isn't that far away).

tony286 02-05-2009 08:34 PM

I thought the first didnt do well why did they make a second one?

These movies are an insult to Peter Sellers.

Steve Martin is not funny.

bronco67 02-05-2009 09:37 PM

Classic...go to about 3:50.

Maybe not, not now, but I saw Steve Martin at the Troubadour in 1975, a few weeks before his first appearance on "NBC's Saturday Night."

I was getting over a cold, and I could not laugh without unleashing a really nasty cough.

I almost died that night. His now-familiar routines were brand new, honed from years of night-by-night stand-up experience and I could not laugh.

And if you ask me, the new "Pink Panther" movies are as much a slight to Peter Sellers as Gus Van Sant's "Psycho" was an insult to Alfred Hitchcock. Greatness endures, no matter what follows.
