You know, I'm not for either side (dems or repubs) but I find it funny that Obama is blaming the Repubs for this whole mess when in fact the Dems have had the majority for the last 4 years? Uhh? Am I just missing something? Why didn't THEY do something?

Idiot....... the Republicans had power for six years. Republicans pushed everything they ever wanted and look where it got us.

The democrats only have a majority in congress for the last two years and don't have a filibuster proof Senate.

McCain is a confused old man...

MCCAIN: Mr. President, the American people are figuring it out that this is not a stimulus bill it's a spending bill full of unnecessary spending, unexamined policy changes or policy changes that have been examined and rejected in the past and of course tax cuts, which really do not stimulate the economy.

WALLACE: As that package now stands, can John McCain vote for it?

MCCAIN: No. We need to make a commitment that there will be no new taxes. We need to cut payroll taxes, we need to cut business taxes, we need to have a commitment that after a couple quarters of GDP growth that we will embark on a path of say called graham-rudman to reduce spending to get our budget in balance. We're going to lay an additional two trillion basically dollars of debt on future generations of Americans. Is there going to be a point at which foriegn countries such as the Chinese stop buying our debt? Look, we've got to eliminate the unneccessary spending. There has got to be some kind of litmus as to whether it will really stimulate the economy and whether it will in the short term.

The problem is people dont understand for republicans this all has to fail and we have to go into a depression or they will never get elected in a long time. The problem is obama is bending over waaay too wide for these motherfuckers. Also the democrats have very weak leadership in nancy and harry.

Its the other way around. Man thats some twisted logic. Everyone will blame Bush for this 100%. The dems need the reps to vote for this so when it does fail, because it will, they can share the blame.

I agree. I think if they pass this and it works and in 2-3 years the economy is chugging along at a nice pace, the republicans will have zero chance of winning back the house, senate or presidency any time soon. They don't want to get on board with the dems because if this works it makes them look like they have been wrong all these years and they lose even more credibility than they already have.

The Dems did for 8 years exactly what the repubs are doing now. Bush never had enough votes in the Senate for anything without some dems support and that's why you can't blame Bush for everything.
