How much RAM do you use in your everyday desktop/lappy?

Any non-PAE enabled kernel will address up to 3.2GB.

Same principle applies to Windows. 32-bit = up to 3.2GB. 64-bit = up to 64GB.

My laptop has 4Gb.. It's my main work computer, who needs a desktop anymore?

Nothing weird about 3gb. What's weird is not have a 3gb option when it's a common number.

Every machine I use has 3 GB. I built one with 4 and had Vista 64 on it but scrapped that shit for another XP with 3gb.

And I use the desktop to encode video

You'd be surprised at how productive the desktop can be when you run NOTHING ELSE on it.

It also has a 5x weaker processor on it, but works like a charm (several times faster than the lappy)

No, there was 16 mb option but it seems that is removed from some reason

No idea. My computer has all the Internet into a single floppy. I made a backup of the Internet a couple of hours ago.

Must ask my hardware provider about that. His name is Neo. My computer is a Matrix 5.0 model.

With dual-channel ram being so widespread, 3GB isn't a common number at all.. are all your machines running in triple-channel mode already?

RAM was/is(?) so cheap so I bought a lot of it. But I often run Virtual machines on my computer, but I dont think I need 8 gb for it...
